Hi all! I know that it’s still warm outside but the cool days of fall are coming. I have a friend who is gathering up things for distribution to those who have need and could use some help as the weather changes and they are out in the elements.

Top priority items are:
- socks
- shoes
- ponchos
- coats
- blankets
- sleeping bags

Folks less fortunate with challenges that go without need these things. You may not be the one to give but you may have connections that could. I do appreciate you even reading this because it may spark a conversation that could lead in helping my friend Aaron get needed items to those going without.

Thanks

Dear Patients and Friends,

As you may have heard, Governor Brown recently announced new restrictions on social gatherings and other activities for our state and county. The restrictions announced do NOT place any new limits on dental care. As such, we will continue to have our office open and available to accommodate your dental needs.

Over the last several months, there have not been any COVID cases traced back to a dental office. The CDC and the American Dental Association have been monitoring this closely. In short, our screening and barrier methods have been proven to be extremely effective at preventing the spread of this virus. We want you to know that we take your health and that of our staff seriously, and will continue proceed with caution and care.

We look forward to seeing you!

Yippy! We are looking on the bright side of the requirements in these Oregon counties. I guess this means more places are seeing more people! Here at the office we have had this policy since we started opening. We want to keep our office COVID free. Please help us in compliance by following these guidelines and our visitor office protocol. To find out more on our visitor office protocols and measures we are taking, call us at 503-777-1332 for your next appointment.

Thank you all.

We are also so very happy to pass on info from the CDC's latest "Guidance for Dental Settings" on June 17, 2020 that quote "...no clusters have yet been reported in dental settings or among DHCP (Dental Healthcare Personnel)".

Woo whoo for teeth people everywhere!

We’re back!

Although we have been seeing emergent issues at the office we are appreciative of your patience as we thoughtfully implement incorporating regular treatment.

If you had an appointment during the closure that was canceled, or if you are due for your regular appointment, please contact our office at 503-777-1332 to schedule.

What’s new? How did you spend your time flattening the curve?

Well, we’ve been keeping up to date on the latest regulations to continue to bring you the best dental care in the safest way possible!

From ensuring our office is a cough, sniffle, and fever free-zone to making sure the air you’re breathing is cleaned and purified, we’ve been working hard to continue to provide the same excellent care as before the pandemic.

Here are just a few of the things we have installed in the office:

•Waiting room: Full floor-to-ceiling separation panels in between distanced chairs to maintain social distancing requirements

•Medical grade HEPA air purifiers which filter down to the virus level, in waiting room and treatment rooms

•Extra oral vacuums to decrease the possibility of aerosol

•No-touch, hands free, high tech soap dispensers (Seriously, they’re just soap dispensers we’ve had in the past and have got more.)

•Award-wining, intra oral, hands-free, dental isolation technology to decrease the possibility of aerosol, called Isollite. (High-tech suction that we’ve had but now everyone really wants, so they can be cool like us.)

Systems we have had and some we are implementing to keep all of us safer and to make sure we are staying on top of the continually changing regulations set forth by OSHA, the CDC and the OHA:

•N95 masks for staff, of course

•Face shields

•Innovative custom mask frames to enhance the seal of surgical masks

•Multiple types of gowns for every mood you may have

•Monitoring and documenting staff wellness by screening prior to working

•Screening patients to decrease the chance of spreading any infection: at time of scheduling appointment, at confirmation, and upon arrival from your vehicle. Remember the game “20 questions”? It will be fun!

•Social distancing via the web by enhanced web access to patients. You can log in to the account portal via the website at drjonathanroxas.com. Click on the “Existing Patient Connection Sign Up” so you can access your account to check balances, make payments, request an appointment and contact us. If you need help accessing the portal please call us and we will help. Also, if you have not yet signed up for text message appointment reminders, please call us and we can get that set up for you as well.

•We do ask that you come wearing your own mask/face covering and wear it when not in the treatment chair.

•And like before, disinfecting everything! Everything! We still have our public hand sanitizer stations and we continue to disinfect common areas.

We are also very thankful for the continued opportunity and privilege to open the office and serve your healthcare needs. We appreciate you and your patience as we wade through this toward a brighter future.

We can't wait to see you again!

Dear Friends,

We at the office are finalizing the protocols and the phases we will be going through to come back to serve your dental care needs. We missed seeing you! We will post an outline to the new screening and appointment procedures beginning next week. We will also be reaching out to patients with emergent and urgent issues that did not meet the criteria for "emergency treatment" first. Links to our web content will be posted. This content will most likely have more detailed info on the measures we are taking to ensure your well being and continued dental care. Thank you for your patience and for isolating, so we could flatten the curve. Stay tuned.

Due to the recommendations made by the Governor in statements today we have decide to voluntarily suspend normal operations and limit our treatment to emergency only dental care, as well as on going treatment that is in progress like crown deliveries and oral appliances like partial dentures on a case by case basis.

By doing so we are alleviating the strain of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) i.e. masks, gloves, gowns, and disinfectants. This will provide more availability of these items for the hospitals and medical personal caring for patients at the front lines of this pandemic.

On June 15th, 2020, we are hoping that restrictions will be lifted and we will be back to normal operations. If you have any questions please call us at 503-777-1332 or check online here on our page for the latest up to date information about our office.

We urge patients to keep monitoring themselves and those in their care for the signs and symptoms associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) virus. The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.

*Fever
*Cough
*Shortness of breath

We urge everyone to do their part and comply with minimal contact with others to help in isolating this virus. This will help slow its transmission and allow our hospital health care providers a better chance at caring for those effected with this virus.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Call your doctor if you develop symptoms.

So some may be wondering what the world will be like for the next few days, weeks, and months. We are working hard to assess the the future of treatment at the office.

I am monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 and caring for Dental Patients This is information from the CDC:

According to the CDC standard, precautions should be followed when caring for any patient, regardless of suspected or confirmed COVID-19.

If the patient is afebrile (without fever) and otherwise without symptoms consistent with COVID-19, then precautions specific to COVID-19 are not required, and the need for PPE (personal protective equipment) should be based on what is routinely recommended for that procedure as outlined in CDC's Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Settings.

If not clinically urgent, dental health care personnel should consider postponing non-emergency or elective dental procedures in patients who HAVE SIGNS OR SYMPTOMS OF RESPIRATORY ILLNESS.

In consideration of these precautions we will be incorporating telephone triage when confirming appointments and eliminating patient penalties for cancellations and missed appointments related to respiratory illness.

Look forward to these questions when we are confirming appointments

In the last 5 days have you:
-Had temperature over 100.4°F? Y N
-Felt Feverish? Y N
-Had a cough? Y N
-Felt short of Breath? Y N

Additional details on infection prevention and control, triage, and other aspects of healthcare preparedness are available on the CDC website.

This may change by the hour. I thank you for your patience and cooperation in helping give time to those fighting in the hospital, both patients infected or not, and the ones caring for them.

Hope this helps. Be safe and wash those hands.
