Dr. Dave Carothers ("Dr. Dave" to his patients) was born and raised here in Portland, Oregon. He attended Portland State University and then went on to attend dental school at Loma Linda University in California, of which he is now an associate professor. After graduating in 1980, he continued his education by learning about advanced cosmetic dental procedures at the Las Vegas Institute For Advanc
ed Cosmetic Studies. He then moved back to Portland to practice dentistry for 5 years under his father, who is now a retired dentist. In 1985 he started his own practice, which still stands today at our current location. As advancements in dentistry continue to surface, he and his staff work very hard to keep up to date with new developments. Incorporating new techniques and treatments into the practice enable us to provide the best comprehensive care for our patients. For this reason we have taken the opportunity to learn about and incorporate some advanced technologies and treatments such as dental implants, invisible braces (Invisalign), one-visit porcelain crowns, and mercury-free fillings. Dr. Carothers is constantly expanding his knowledge of dentistry by involving himself in continuing education classes and staying updated on the current events of dentistry all over the world. Aside from serving Portland and its surrounding areas, Dr. Carothers believes that serving the underprivileged is part of his calling. He and his staff fulfill this by taking annual trips to Nicaragua to charitably treat many underserved patients. We also devote charitable time here in Portland by treating all the CASS students (students attending Mt. Hood Community College that are from Central America) for all their dental needs. Dr. Carothers also supports the public schools and Multnomah Dental Society's Senior Smile Program. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, Multnomah Dental Society, and the Society For Mercury Free Dentistry.
