Bucheli et al. Found increase in CGRP expression in human dental pulp when teeth are submitted to severe orthodontic forces.
Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a neuropeptide released from pulp C-type nerve fibers after being injured. CGRP triggers changes in microcirculation which can elevate tissue pressure, which may account for degenerative reaction such as pulp calcification or pulp necrosis. J Endod 2011,37:934-937
