Daily flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth where your toothbrush can't reach, reducing your risk of cavities, gum disease, and bad breath.

Keep your smile healthy by making flossing part of your daily routine, and don't forget to schedule your regular dental checkups with Mid County Dental Arts! ✨

One of the most common questions parents ask is: “When should my child first visit the dentist?” 🦷

The American Dental Association recommends scheduling a child’s first dental visit by their first birthday, or within six months of their first tooth coming in. Early visits help us monitor healthy development, catch small issues before they become bigger problems, and help children become comfortable at the dentist from an early age.

Starting dental care young also gives parents the opportunity to ask questions about brushing, pacifiers, thumb sucking, teething, and healthy habits at home.

A positive first experience can make a big difference in how children feel about dental care for years to come, and our team is here to make those visits comfortable, friendly, and stress-free for both kids and parents. 😁

In Southeast Texas, a lot of our favorite drinks can quietly take a toll on our teeth over time. Sweet tea with lemon, sports drinks after working outside, sparkling waters, frozen margaritas, and energy drinks all have one thing in common, acid and sugar that can weaken enamel and increase the risk of staining and decay.

Even drinks that seem healthier, like sparkling water or lemon water, can become a problem when they’re sipped throughout the day. Constant exposure to acid gives your enamel less time to recover, which can lead to sensitivity and wear over time.

That doesn’t mean you have to give up your favorites completely. Drinking water afterward, limiting all-day sipping, and staying consistent with regular dental cleanings can help protect your smile while still enjoying the things you love.

The Seale Dental Team at Mid County Dental Arts is here to help keep it healthy and strong. 🦷

Some of the foods we eat all the time can be surprisingly tough on our teeth, especially when acid is involved. Over time, acidic foods can weaken enamel, increase sensitivity, and make teeth more vulnerable to staining and decay.

A few common favorites that can sneak up on your smile include BBQ sauce, pickles, coleslaw with vinegar-based dressing, tomato sauces on pizza or pasta, citrus fruits and drinks, and even mustard paired with foods like boudain. Sour candies are another major culprit because they combine high acidity with sugar that sticks to teeth.

The goal isn’t to avoid your favorite foods completely, it’s just about balance and awareness. Drinking water after meals, avoiding constant snacking on acidic foods, and maintaining regular dental cleanings can help protect your enamel long term.

With the Seale Dental Team at Mid County Dental Team, we’re here to help you keep your smile healthy while still enjoying the foods you love. 🦷
