AAOF friend Debbie Swanson Best pledged $25,000 to the AAO Foundation, originally to be given from her estate.
But she decided not to wait until after she was gone; she wanted to see the gift 'in action' and would present the donation upon her retirement, at AAO Annual Session in New Orleans!

I am excited to announce my retirement after 50 years in the profession.

Dear Members of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation:

Several years ago, I pledged $25,000 to the AAOF to be donated from my estate as a way to give back to the profession. Rather than waiting until I am gone, I decided it would be more rewarding to give the donation upon my retirement. It is with mixed feelings that after 50 years in the dental/orthodontic industry, I have decided it is time to hang up my hat and explore the joys of retirement.

I cherish my long career in orthodontics and still feel that it is the best profession in the world. Orthodontists around the world have changed the lives of millions of patients, creating beautiful healthy smiles, giving them the confidence to follow their dreams. I am proud that I have been part of this wonderful profession and have enjoyed working with hundreds of orthodontists over my tenure.
It is my hope that this donation will help future generations in residency programs, as well as continued support for research programs.

Thank you for all of your hard work in keeping the orthodontic profession strong while maintaining the highest standards of excellent patient care.
