It’s officially the best time of the year! We love the creativity and community spirit that fills Kellogg Park during the fall season. 🍂 🎃 It’s always a treat to see the amazing creations from all the other local businesses!

A special thank you to the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce for making this wonderful tradition happen year after year.

🦷💙 February was Children’s Oral Health Awareness Month, and Dr. John had the special honor of visiting his daughter Hattie’s school to talk all about TEETH! 👨‍⚕️📚

He shared fun facts, read a book about dental care, and handed out dental goody bags for all the kids to take home. The highlight? A hands-on activity where the kids used two giant toothbrushes to brush “sugar bugs” off a big tooth! 🪥🍭 It was equal parts adorable and educational.

Dr. John’s 5 favorite tips for keeping those little smiles healthy:
1️⃣ Preference for water but always dilute juice to reduce sugar exposure on teeth.
2️⃣ Use a tooth timer (2 minutes!) to make brushing fun and effective.
3️⃣ Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, even for baby teeth.
4️⃣ Floss daily once teeth start touching. Yes—even for kids!
5️⃣ Come ride the dental chair 🦷🪑 — Early visits help children get comfortable at the dentist and build lifelong healthy habits!

🌟 Keeping Up with the Best in Dentistry! 🌟

Dr. Howard, Dr. John, and Dr. Kelly had a fantastic time at the Francis B. Vedder Society Spring Meeting last Friday! 🎉🦷 As longtime members of this prestigious group, Dr. Howard and Dr. John are committed to staying at the forefront of dental advancements to bring the best care to our patients.

This year’s meeting featured Dr. Mark C. Nation, a highly sought-after surgical and restorative prosthodontist, who presented on “Dental Implant Reconstruction for the Edentulous or Partially Edentulous Patient.” 🏗️ His lecture covered everything from the rationale for full arch implant reconstruction to diagnostic imaging, treatment planning, prosthetic options, and best practices for avoiding complications. It was a deep dive into the latest techniques that help patients regain confident, functional smiles! 😁✨

🌟 Teamwork Makes the Dream Work! 🌟

This past week, the team took a half-day away from patient care to focus on something just as important—strengthening our team and our practice! Led by Dr. John and our front desk extraordinaire, Angie, the day was all about accountability—to our patients, ourselves, and each other.

We gathered at PARC in Plymouth which provided a wonderful space to learn and grow together. From engaging icebreakers to celebrating team milestones, diving into practice updates, and participating in hands-on exercises—including a fun accountability chain link activity—our team embraced the opportunity to grow together. We believe that a strong, connected team means better care for you, our patients!

And we had a special guest—the youngest member of Hamerink Dental, Hugh Hamerink, joined in on the fun! Never too early to start in dental fun! 👶💙😂

The Hamerink Dental team is thrilled to introduce the newest (and tiniest!) member of our family—Hewitt “Hughie” Hamerink! 💙 Born on Christmas Day 2024, he has already brought so much joy to Dr. John and his family.

We also want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our amazing patients for your patience and support while Dr. John took some time away over the holidays and the new year for paternity leave. Family is at the heart of what we do, and we’re grateful to be part of such a caring community. 🙏

As we wrap up 2024, the Hamerink Dental team gathered this past weekend for our annual Holiday celebration at the lovely 160 Main in downtown Northville. The evening was filled with good food, laughter, and a spirited office White Elephant gift exchange that brought plenty of laughter and joy (see Lisa’s excitement on her new doormat 😁)! 🎁 Huge thank you to our front desk extraordinaire, Angie, for organizing a wonderful night.

This year, we’ve been proud to focus on improving both overall and oral health, and striving to make a positive impact in the lives of our incredible patients. Your loyalty and trust inspire us daily, and we’re deeply grateful to be a part of your health journey.

This honor recognizes Dr. John’s dedication to the dental field, outstanding professional achievement, and service to the community. The ICD emphasizes leadership, service, and the advancement of oral health worldwide—values Dr. John lives every day. 🦷✨

🎉 💙 Celebrating Our Heroes at Hamerink Dental! 🦷 🎉

Join us in recognizing Dr. Howard and Dr. John for their outstanding contribution to the Michigan Dental Association Foundation’s Mission of Mercy. This year’s event in Flint delivered $1,156,285.10 in donated dental care, helping 659 patients receive essential treatments and performing 6,678 procedures with an average of 10 procedures per patient.

The Mission of Mercy aims to provide free dental care to underserved populations, addressing immediate oral health needs and raising awareness about the importance of dental care.

Dr. Howard serves as the Director of Victors for Veterans program at The University of Michigan School of Dentistry and Dr. John as the Co-Director. This program obtains grants and fundraising in order to provide dental care and services to veterans. This group donated their time and services to Mission of Mercy.

Their dedication to serving underserved communities is truly inspiring. Thank you, Dr. Howard and Dr. John, for making a difference and spreading smiles! 😁🦷
