Dental Assisting at CPI Dental Assistants play an important role in any successful dental practice. Students will receive hands-on training in the CPI clinic and Mobile Dental Unit.

uments during procedures, keep patients’ mouths dry by using suction hoses or other equipment, instruct patients in proper dental hygiene, process x rays and do lab tasks under the direction of a dentist, keep records of dental treatments, schedule patient appointments, and work with patients on billing and payment.

As a Dental Front Office/Patient Coordinator, you'll play an important part in creating a positive experience for our patients and keeping our practice running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:

· Welcome and check patients in and out

· Answer phones and communicate with patients professionally

· Collect payments and discuss financial arrangements

· Maintain accurate and confidential patient records

· Use computers and practice-management software

What You'll Do
As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will work closely with our orthodontic team and patients throughout their treatment.

● Learning orthodontic procedures, instruments, and techniques

Schedule

Our regular schedule is:
Monday – Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Plus one additional workday per week, which can be scheduled on a day and/or time that works with the needs of the practice.

Our offices are located in Bellefonte, PA (two locations) and Lewistown, PA (one location).

Candidates should be comfortable working at our different office locations as needed.

Centre Volunteers in Medicine is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our amazing TEAM. CVIM is a free dental clinic and helps provide quality oral healthcare to individuals and families in our community who may otherwise have limited access to dental services.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Major Responsibilities

Provision of dental services to qualified CVIM patients

1. Maintains x-ray certification in good standing

2. Assists staff and volunteer dentists in provision of dental care to CVIM patients

a. Assists with dental extractions, restorative care, emergency evaluations and other routine services provided in CVIM dental clinic

b. Conducts telephone triage of patients calling with potential dental emergencies

3. Takes and exposes x-rays to guide patient care

4. Consistently enters notes in dental charts regarding care provided and assures dentists complete proper documentation

5. Provides education to patients regarding proper care of teeth and gums, reducing disease risk factors and promoting good maintenance of oral health

Dental Clinic Coordination

1. Participates in Clinical and Dental Staff Meetings

2. Manages and updates dental clinic schedule in electronic health record

3. Maintains dental inventory and orders supplies as necessary

4. Responsible for maintenance and documentation for dental and x-ray equipment

General Clinical Operations

1. Properly maintains and sterilizes dental operations

2. Properly maintains dental and x-ray equipment

3. Coordinates release documents and requests for x-rays and scans documents into patient records

4. Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to CVIM patients, personnel and organizational operations.


Minimum Qualifications

1. One year experience performing dental assistant care in a dental setting; preferred candidates will hold current certificate as dental assistant from accredited school

2. X-RAY certified

3. High school diploma or equivalent

4. Ability to work independently as well as part of a professional team.

5. Ability to work with variety of personalities, demonstrates patience and compassion consistent with the mission and vision of Centre Volunteers in Medicine

6. Certification as EFDA preferred


Schedule as follows:

Monday-Thursday 7:45am – 4:30pm

Friday 8:00am – 1:00pm

Could flex to 36 hours a week instead of 40 for good candidate
