This is Newark Police Detective Joseph Azcona, murdered in his car by a 14-year-old shooter on Friday.
Det. Azcona was only 26 and had achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer, serving Newark Police for 5 years.
His partner was also shot but survived after the 14-year-old approached their car and reportedly opened fire with an automatic weapon before they could even get out.
The 14-year-old is charged with murder and attempted murder but has not been named and cannot be tried as an adult under New Jersey law. Four others were also taken into custody.
