But one of the most overlooked differences is something patients rarely think about: the chair you’re in.

Oral surgery chairs are designed to lay patients nearly flat, allowing us to protect the airway and support safe breathing during sedation or surgery. This positioning gives our team full access to the airway and the ability to respond quickly if needed.

Standard dental chairs are built for routine dental care — not surgical procedures or anesthesia.

It may look subtle, but when surgery and sedation are involved, the setup matters.
