Braces or Invisalign? The better question is: which one actually fits your child’s lifestyle? 🤔

Both can be great options, but the “best” choice depends on things like age, maturity, routine, and how consistent they’ll realistically be with brushing, flossing, and wearing aligners.

The goal isn’t to choose the trendiest option. It’s to choose the one your child is most likely to succeed with.

Parents sometimes point out the spaces between their child’s baby teeth like they’re something we need to fix. Meanwhile, I’m over here thinking: A little breathing room is great! 😌🦷

Permanent teeth are generally larger than the baby teeth they replace, so some natural spacing in a young child’s smile can be helpful when those bigger teeth start coming in.

Of course, every child develops differently, and spacing alone doesn’t predict exactly how their permanent smile will look, but that adorable little gap isn’t automatically a problem.

Sometimes it’s exactly what I want to see! ❤️

If something about your child’s smile is bothering them, it’s worth asking about... even if it isn’t causing pain or affecting the health of the tooth.

Pediatric dentistry isn’t always about fixing a problem. Sometimes it’s about finding the most conservative way to help a child feel more comfortable and confident in their own smile. 🦷✨

One thing I wish more parents knew: cavities don’t suddenly appear overnight.

The earliest clue can be a subtle white or chalky-looking area on the tooth long before there’s a visible hole, pain, or anything your child would complain about.

That’s one of the reasons routine visits matter even when everything seems perfectly fine. Catching changes early can give us a chance to intervene before a tiny problem becomes a much bigger one. 🦷🪥

When I’m looking in your child’s mouth, I’m checking a whole lot more than whether or not they have cavities. 👀🦷

I’m watching how their teeth are coming in, how their bite is developing, whether there are signs of grinding or wear, what their gums are telling me, and whether certain habits could be affecting their growth.

Click through for 5 things I’m paying attention to at your child’s visit that have nothing to do with finding a cavity. 🤍

Some dental advice has been repeated so many times that we’ve stopped questioning whether it’s actually true. 👀🦷

So, let’s retire a few of these dental myths, shall we? 😉

Which one surprised you the most?

If one reel helps a parent understand their child’s oral health a little better, I’m going to keep making them. 😉

Dentistry doesn’t only happen in the chair. A huge part of my job is helping parents understand what’s normal, what’s worth paying attention to, and what we can do now to prevent bigger problems later.

So influencer? Eh.

Educator with a camera roll full of dental content? Absolutely. 🦷❤️
