Poppy, here’s to 93 years well lived. We laid my grandfather Jack DeLisi to rest today. The namesake of our office, Poppy Jack grew up in South Philly and raised his family here before moving to the suburbs. He was a cement mason and proud member of the union, of which I’m told he was the longest standing member in its history. His family was from Sicily, and he displayed all the stereotypes of the region. Fiery, funny, outgoing, loving, tough, hard headed, fair, a lover of food, family, fishing and fine drink. He had a better hair at 93 than I had at 23, and was always impeccably dressed. We shared many meals together at where they knew his name and always rolled out the red carpet for him.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy with 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and countless lives touched. Thanks for everything Pop. Love you.

Rabid Raccoon 100 - 105.4 miles, 15,000 plus feet of vertical gain, 210,000 steps, 13,930 calories burned, in 31 hours and 13 minutes.

A few months ago I dropped out of a 100 mile race for the first time. The race was Oil Creek in Western Pa, and the course and vertical gain were a wake up call. After a few weeks of being bummed I signed up for another trail race is western PA and completed it this last Saturday. It was a very muddy course with a nice cold river crossing that ensured wet feet all day. It took longer than expected but I was able to finish with a time of 31 hours 13 minutes. I still have some unfinished business with Oil Creek, but this was a good confidence boost. Thanks to my buddy Patrick for signing up for the race with me and my pops for driving me out there crewing and taking us home after a very long two days. And as always thank you for putting up with this nonsense.

Last night we said goodbye to our beloved Leo. It’s impossible to put into words how much love and kindness my best boy Leo displayed throughout his life. We never deserved him but we are eternally grateful that he was part of our family. Leo you were the best dog a man could ever ask for. Thank you for all the beautiful memories and lessons you taught us. We will forever remember and honor you, we love you so much. Rest easy buddy.

It both breaks my heart and fills it with great joy to announce that Shaunee, our hygienist for the last 5 years, is starting a new chapter in her life in a few weeks. Shaunee, a super mom of three kids, will be leaving us to spend more time with her boys. We will miss her as much as they will enjoy having her home. Shaunee, thank you so much for helping make this place comfortable and fun for the patients and your team members. Your Halloween costumes can never be matched. You will be sorely missed!
