We are aware of the recent reports regarding improper sterilization procedures at a dental office in the Philadelphia area and understand the concerns tthat his may raise for patients.

At our practice, patient safety has always been and will continue to be our highest priority. We strictly follow all CDC, OSHA, and ADA guidelines for cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization. Every instrument is properly sterilized, and all treatment areas are thoroughly disinfected before each patient visit.

We remain committed to providing a safe, clean, and trusted environment for every patient we serve.

To Our Dear Patients:

We hope this update finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. The Pennsylvania Department of Health has recently allowed dental practices to resume certain operations. Emergency treatments, the majority of restorative (crown/filling) appointments and periodontal cleanings (deep cleanings, 3 & 4 month periodontal maintenance cleanings are currently allowed. If you have periodontal disease it is important that you call the office to schedule your cleaning as soon as possible). However, elective (cosmetic) procedures and routine cleanings are not allowed at this time. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice, and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up to date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We have made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You will be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfected.

• We have added HEPA Filters to each operatory and in the waiting areas.

• Specialized isolation and high-volume suction instruments will be used to help decrease aerosols during most procedures.

• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you are offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

• Due to scarcity and expense of procuring new higher-level personal protective equipment, patients should expect to see an additional fee (may not be covered by insurance) associated with their visit.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 215-387-0883 (Market Street) or 215-545-6334 (South Street). Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends. We expect more guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health in the near future and plan to update you as soon as the information is available.

Sincerely,
The Doctors and Staff of the Pennsylvania Dental Group

Under the most recent mandate from the PA Department of Health we are unable to see patients in office. The mandate does not give an end date, but please rest assured that we will be doing everything in our power in order to start seeing patients as soon as possible. We are available to to provide triage and guidance via telephone if you have a true emergency. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this trying time. We look forward to serving our community again as soon as this crisis passes

To our patients,
As healthcare professionals, the health and well-being of our patients, staff, and their families has always been our top priority. We are experiencing an unprecedented chain of events in our country and difficult decisions are being placed before us.
After careful consideration and in response to the unanimous recommendations by the: Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the City of Philadelphia, the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry

We have come to the conclusion that we must temporarily close our office beginning March 17 at 5PM due to the current pandemic. With our profession falling into the highest risk category for infection and transmission, we feel this is the safest measure to take to protect our patients, our staff, and our community. Our goal is to reopen in a normal capacity on March 30, but as you know, the state of affairs is ever-changing. We promise to keep you informed of any changes via our page, as well as by email or phone.

We will be in the office in a limited capacity beginning on March 18 and continuing through March 27. We will be addressing DENTAL EMERGIENCIES ONLY.

These include the following:
-Severe Toothache (throbbing that prevents sleep and/or normal daily activity)
-Swelling of gums, face, or neck
-Bleeding in the mouth that does not stop
-Trauma (such as broken teeth due to injury)

We will be contacting all scheduled patients in the upcoming days to reschedule their appointment to a future date.
We want to thank you for your patience and understanding during this stressful and unpredictable time. It is our honor and privilege to serve you and your families with your dental needs. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Sincerely,

The Doctors and Staff of Pennsylvania Dental Group

We endeavor to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to protect our patient's, visitor's and staff from increased risk of exposure. We ask that all patient's and their family members, as well as all other Pennsylvania Dental Group visitors, refrain from attending appointments if you recently returned from travel outside of the US, been exposed to COVID-19 and/or are experiencing flu-like symptoms(including coughing, sneezing.congestion and fever). We ask that all appointments if possible be postponed until you are 2 weeks out from returning to the U.S. or exposure to COVID-19 and until you no longer have flu-like symptoms. Also, patients should refrain form bringing family members and other guests to appointments whenever possible. As normal protocol even before the coronavirus both of our office's ensure that the environment remains safe for every patient, every time they are in the office. As the current events evolve, we are increasing the number of spot cleanings that are preformed on all contact surfaces throughout the day. As always, each exam room is cleaned with antimicrobial wipes between patient visits. As an additional precaution, we will do everything possible to reduce waiting time in the reception area. Finally, during our pre-visit reminder calls, we will be identifying any patients that have traveled to the most affected countries in the past 2 weeks as well as anyone who has been in contact with a suspected or identified Coronavirus patient.
While nothing at this time can guarantee immunity from the illness, we will be providing as much of a safe environment as possible for our patients.
We will continue to follow the CDC and WHO for updates and regulatory changes and enact recommended safeguards immediately.
Thank You
The Doctors and Staff of Pennsylvania Dental Group
