The staff at Fishtown Dentistry would like to wish everyone a safe and healthy 2025. We are also excited to introduce our newest team-member - Dr. Valerie Malcom. You will see Dr. Malcolm in the office on Thursdays, giving us additional capacity to provide the best care possible to our patients and neighbors.

Dr. Malcolm received her DMD through the Advanced Standing Program at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry, graduating summa cm laude. Originally from the Philippines, after emigrating to the United States she first worked as a dental assistant, then as an EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant), and Senior Clinic Manager for Pediatric Dentistry at Temple. She has been teaching at Harcum College since 2010, and has served the Pennsylvania EFDA Association as Continuing Education Coordinator.

I love seeing Dr. Malcolm’s passion for dentistry and genuine patient care and am excited to work alongside her at Fishtown Dentistry. Having been in the dental field for 20 years, Dr. Malcolm understands that patient comfort and communication are just as important as quality dentistry. She will listen to your needs and share evidence-based treatment plans, customized to provide appropriate care while ensuring that you are as comfortable as possible.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Malcolm enjoys painting, gardening and dancesport. Her favorite activity is hanging out with her husband and best friend of almost 20 years and their daughter.

Congratulations to Denise, our wonderful hygienist, on her retirement. This week was bittersweet - our office has been filled with flowers, tears and hugs from long-time patients sad to see Denise go, but also happy and excited for her.

Denise has been a fixture in the practice for 26 years! As a newer business owner, I have been lucky to be surrounded by amazing team members. Denise has helped me grow as a person and leader, and given me confidence during challenging times. Thank you Denise, for your work ethic, dedication and passion for our patients, and for the person you are and all the lives you’ve touched. You will be missed by many, we love you and hope you enjoy retirement!
