We love every single one of you... but let's be honest, it feels like an annual attempt to give eachothercavities!

We love our sweets as much as the next person, that's why we are playing caries defense this holiday season! 🛡️

🦷 Top Holiday Defense Tips:

-Drink Water: Rinse your mouth immediately after indulging. Water helps wash away sugar and neutralize acid.

-Brush Right: Don't brush right after a candy cane or acidic fruit! Wait 30 minutes to protect your softened enamel.

-Choose Wisely: If you need a treat, choose items that aren't sticky unlike caramels or hard candies. Treats that wash away easier are always better!

A huge thanks again to everyone for the treats and the kind thank-you letters. We are so happy and fortunate to have you all in our lives. We promise to brush and floss properly!

This patient presented to our office struggling with everyday tasks like eating and speaking. We found that the dental implants were not in the ideal position, which led to discomfort and frustration with the overdenture.

After taking new records and multiple appointments, we were able to create a new, custom-fit overdenture that now fits comfortably over the existing implants. They can now eat, smile, and live confidently again. 🦷✨

Reducing gum pockets and inflammation caused by bacteria.

Non-invasive trays deliver treatment deep below the gum line.

In conjunction with scaling and root planning, perio protect trays allow medicine to reach bacteria that brushing and flossing cannot touch.

This non-invasive treatment allowed this patient to avoid expensive and painful periodontal surgery after only 3 months of use.

Now that the bacteria is under control, we can focus on the esthetics.

Recurrent Decay...

forms under existing fillings and crowns because of leakage around dental restorations. Pressure from chewing and grinding can cause fillings to crack, chip, or wear away. Leaving gaps that allow bacteria to get under the filling.

Decay can cause large holes in your teeth, and you may not feel anything at all. It's only when the decay pierces through the enamel and starts getting close to the nerve when pain and discomfort start to set in.

In this case, we were able to remove the recurrent decay. The patient was able to avoid pain and a costly root canal. We will continue to monitor this tooth and make sure it remains vital.

Talk to your dentist about recurrent decay before symptoms set in.

Bright, white and bulky teeth aren't a good fit for everyone! This 70 year old patient never felt her teeth fit her facial frame, and was uncomfortable smiling because "people could tell they were fake teeth". Remember, in spite of our obsession with whiter teeth, most healthy teeth tend to have a light yellow hue. Talk to your dentist to figure out your best fit.

Five ways to prevent tooth decay on kids.

Children should see the dentist every 6 months. Some dentists may schedule visits more often. This can build comfort and confidence in the child. More frequent visits can also help monitor any development problems.

Here are some tips to protect your children's teeth:

1. Before teeth come in, clean gums with a clean, damp cloth.

2. When your child's first tooth appears, start brushing with a small, soft-bristled toothbrush and a very small amount of toothpaste (the size of a grain of rice).

3. If your child uses a bottle at bedtime/nap, only put water in it. Juice or formula contain sugars that can lead to tooth decay.

4. Help your child brush his or her teeth until they are capable of tying their own shoes.

5. Make sure your child eats a well-balanced diet. Limit snacks that are sticky and high in sugars, such as candies, sweetened drinks, and juice.
