We are closely monitoring the winter weather forecast for Monday and will provide an update closer to the day regarding our office hours and whether we will be open. We do follow Fayette County Schools and their weather closing decision.

Oral Cancer Awareness Month is observed annually in April. This month is dedicated to raising awareness about oral cancer, promoting early detection, and encouraging regular dental checkups. Early diagnosis is key to successful treatment of these types of cancers.

Factors which significantly increase the risk for oral and oropharyngeal cancer (cancer of the mouth and upper throat) include to***co use in all forms and heavy consumption of alcohol. Other factors may include prolonged sun exposure to the lips, fair skin, poor oral hygiene, poor diet and nutrition, and a weakened immune system.

Regular oral cancer examinations performed by an oral health professional remain the best method for detecting oral cancer in its early stages. When detected and treated early, treatment-related health problems are reduced, and survival rates may increase.
