When a tooth is missing:

🦷 Surrounding teeth can take on extra pressure
The teeth next to the missing tooth may have to work harder, increasing stress, wear, and the risk of breakdown over time.

🦷 Neighboring teeth can begin to shift
Teeth naturally move toward open spaces, which can change your bite and create areas that are harder to clean.

🦷 Jawbone can gradually deteriorate
Without a tooth root stimulating the bone, the jawbone in that area can begin to shrink and lose volume.

🦷 Your bite can change
As teeth shift and opposing teeth lose their contact, your bite can become unbalanced, potentially placing additional stress on your teeth and jaw.

🦷 Chewing efficiency can be compromised
A complete set of functioning teeth helps you properly break down food before digestion. Better chewing supports the digestive process and nutrient utilization.

Dental implants offer more than a replacement tooth—they restore function and help preserve the structures around it.

At Orozco Family Dental, we take a functional, whole-health approach to dentistry, looking beyond aesthetics to understand how your oral health contributes to your overall wellness.

A missing tooth deserves more than a cosmetic fix. It deserves a functional solution.

No pokeys!” 😂

Our 3-year-old’s ONE condition before his dental cleaning and exam… and honestly, we were happy to agree. 🤍

We believe kids’ dental visits should feel safe, positive, and even FUN—because early experiences can shape how they feel about the dentist for years to come.

But pediatric dental care is about more than cavities. As a holistic/functional dental practice, we look at the bigger picture of your child’s oral development, including airway health, breathing, tongue posture, jaw development, and sleep.

Our goal? Help your child build a healthy smile and a healthy foundation for growth and development. 🦷🌿

Tri-Cities moms, what’s YOUR child’s #1 rule for going to the dentist? 😂👇

🦷 The Proper Order for Your Morning Oral Care

1. Tongue scrape first 👅
Start by gently scraping your tongue to remove the bacteria and buildup that accumulate overnight—before you swallow it throughout the day.

2. Floss 🧵
Clean between your teeth first to loosen and remove plaque and bacteria from areas your toothbrush can’t reach.

3. Water floss / targeted rinse 💦
Use your water flosser with ozone, oil pulling, or whatever targeted rinse your dentist recommends for you.
🚫 Skip alcohol-based mouthwashes—they can be harsh on the oral environment.

4. Brush last 🪥
Brush thoroughly with your recommended toothpaste or remineralizing product. Then spit, but don’t rinse.

Leaving the remineralizing ingredients on your teeth gives them more time to work.

✨ One important rule:

Don’t rinse after brushing, and don’t floss after brushing.

Rinsing can wash away the remineralizing agents you’ve just applied, while flossing afterward can move bacteria and debris back around the mouth.

Tongue scrape → Floss → Water floss/targeted rinse → Brush → Spit, don’t rinse.

Your oral microbiome is an ecosystem—your routine should support it, not just sterilize it.

Wait… YOUR neck hurts!?

08/14/2026

It’s simple, free, and takes seconds—but it can help wash away food particles, dilute acids, and reduce the amount of time your teeth are exposed to cavity-causing acids.

And if you’re drinking coffee, tea, wine, or eating staining foods? A quick water swish afterward can help rinse away pigments before they sit on your teeth.

You don’t need a fancy product. Start with water. 💧

Your teeth will thank you.

Save this + share it with someone who needs an easy dental habit!

Kinda chic. 🌿

To have a dentist who thinks beyond the tooth.

Prevention. Oral microbiome. Nutrition. Airway. Gum health. Continuing education. Looking for the why instead of simply fixing the problem once it shows up.

Because great dentistry isn’t just about giving you a beautiful smile.

It’s about helping you keep it. 🤍
