Last week, I had the incredible honor of receiving my Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) — a recognition earned by only 6% of dentists in the US and Canada 🇺🇸🇨🇦.

This milestone represents:
🦷 Over 500 hours of continuing education
📚 Passing a rigorous 400-question exam
💪 A deep commitment to lifelong learning and clinical excellence

It hasn’t been easy. It meant countless hours of continuing education courses, time away from my family, and the constant drive to push myself to do better and to give my patients the best care possible. 💙
To my husband, Amr, my kids, and my amazing team at Zen Dental Care — thank you for your support every step of the way. I couldn’t have done this without you. 🙏

It was a bittersweet moment, as I also lost my mother-in-law, a second mom to me, and a strong woman who deeply believed in the power of education. She supported me throughout my entire dental journey. I carry her spirit and encouragement with me every step forward. 💔🎓

Preventative oral care and regular check ups are important to maintaining overall health.

A new study suggests that the oral microbiome plays a key role in your overall health and lifespan. A balanced oral microbiome helps prevent harmful bacteria from growing and entering your bloodstream—this lowers inflammation in the body. Less inflammation means a lower risk of conditions like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and some cancers. In simple terms: clean, well-balanced mouths are tied to healthier, longer lives .

The study also highlights that older adults who keep healthy oral bacteria—through brushing, flossing, and regular dental care—tend to stay healthier and live longer.
