If you just left our clinic with a brand-new set of brackets and wires, welcome to the club! 🎉 The first 72 hours are always the biggest transition as your mouth adjusts to the new hardware.

To help you sail through the first three days with zero panic, here is your official Braces Soreness Cheat Sheet:
• Day 1: Cold is your best friend. Stick to cold, soft foods like smoothies, yogurt, or ice cream. The cold temperature acts as a natural numbing agent for your gums! 🍦❄️
• Day 2: Saltwater rinses. If your cheeks are feeling a little tender where they touch the metal, rinse with warm saltwater 3–4 times a day to soothe irritation and speed up healing. 🧂💧
• Day 3: Master the wax. Pinch off a pea-sized piece of orthodontic wax, roll it in your fingers to warm it up, and press it directly over any bracket that is rubbing.

Milo takes his job very seriously. His daily to-do list includes:

With orthodontic hardware, food and bacteria have dozens of new, tiny places to hide out. If they aren't cleared out, they can quickly lead to stale breath and plaque buildup.

To help you celebrate National Fresh Breath Day like an absolute pro, Dr. Andy and the team at Skoro Orthodontics have put together three quick, daily habits to keep your smile smelling like sweet mint:
• 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲: A dry mouth is a breeding ground for bacteria. Drinking water throughout the day washes away loose food particles and keeps your saliva flowing, which naturally cleanses your mouth. 💧
• 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲: Your teeth aren't the only things that trap odors! Make sure you gently brush your tongue, and if you wear Invisalign, give your clear trays a thorough, dedicated clean daily to prevent smelly buildup. 👅🧼
