Not sure what happens at your first oral surgery consultation? Here's what to expect.

We start with your health history, including your concerns, medications, and goals. From there, imaging like 3D scans helps us understand exactly what we're working with.

Next, we walk through your treatment options, including sedation and anesthesia, so you know what to expect before any decisions are made. Then we lay out timing, costs, and next steps clearly, with no guesswork.

Bring your referral, insurance card, and a list of medications, and we'll take care of the rest.

Braces on the horizon? Your orthodontist might send you to an oral surgeon first, and that is a good thing.

Creating space with selective extractions, guiding impacted canines into place, removing wisdom teeth, and correcting severe underbites, overbites, and crossbites all help braces do their job. Your surgeon and orthodontist plan the timing together so treatment stays on track.

One of the first things we tell patients who've lost a tooth: the bone underneath starts changing sooner than most people expect.

Your jawbone stays healthy because of the stimulation it gets from your tooth root. Once that root is gone, the bone begins to lose density. Over time, that can affect the shape of your face and make future treatment more complicated.

The good news is that addressing it sooner keeps more options available to you. Give us a call at (760) 346-7431 and we will walk you through what makes the most sense for your situation.

Bridges and dentures replace what people see. Implants replace what they don't.

An implant goes into the jaw the way a natural tooth root does, which means you keep your chewing strength, your bone stays healthy, and the tooth functions exactly like the one you lost. It's the only option that addresses both what's above the gumline and what's below.

Curious if implants are right for you? Call (760) 346-7431 or book a consult at desertoralsurgery.com.

Summer break doesn't last forever, and neither does the window to recover comfortably. If your wisdom teeth are already causing discomfort, or your dentist has told you it's time, this is the season to take care of it. Most patients are back to feeling like themselves within just a few days.

Don't wait until pain makes the decision for you.
