I've worked in recording studios, live sound venues, corporate offices, and dental practices. And the single biggest difference between a place that works and a place that doesn't? The people.

When I was at USC's School of Dentistry for eight years, the staff just meshed. We had each other's backs. The other AV guy and I had this workflow that was almost effortless. And that experience shaped everything about how I think about building my own team.

Because here's what patients don't always realize: the team behind your dentist affects the quality of care you receive. When my assistant anticipates what I need during surgery before I ask for it, the procedure goes smoother and faster. When my hygienist catches something early because she has the clinical training of a dentist, that saves you time, money, and pain down the road.

We don't have high turnover. We're not a corporate office cycling through staff every few months. The people you meet on your first visit are the same faces you'll see at your next one, and the one after that.

My daughter is in the office all the time. My wife is here every day. It's a family operation in every sense --- and we treat everyone who walks through the door like they're part of it.

That's not a marketing line. That's just Tuesday around here.

We donate to Operation Outdoor Freedom every time a new patient comes to our practice.

Operation Outdoor Freedom is run by the state fire department, and they do incredible work supporting veterans and first responders through outdoor activities and community connection.

When I opened my practice, I wanted to build in a way to give back to the community from day one. I went to all the local fire departments to introduce myself and let them know about our support for Operation Outdoor Freedom.

I didn't realize at the time that it was run differently by each departmentβ€”I thought it was one centralized thing. But the conversations were great, and I built some good relationships with local first responders.
I also brought them free stuff, which probably helped. πŸ˜…

But seriously, giving back matters. This community supports my practice, and I want to support the people who serve this community.
So when you become a patient here, you're not just investing in your own oral health, you're also helping us support veterans and first responders through Operation Outdoor Freedom.

Nitrous oxide works great for mild to moderate dental anxiety. But for patients with more severe anxiety, or for more invasive procedures, we offer oral sedation with medications like Va**um.

Here's what you need to know: you MUST have a driver with a vested interest in you. Not an Uber. Not a taxi. A spouse, family member, or close friend who actually cares about you.

They need to drive you to the appointment, stay with you (or at least be available), drive you home, and make sure you're okay afterward.
Oral sedation is stronger than nitrous. You'll be conscious and able to respond, but you'll be deeply relaxed and probably won't remember much of the appointment. For patients with severe dental anxiety or for longer procedures, it can make the difference between avoiding care and actually getting the treatment you need.

I never want anxiety to be the reason someone doesn't take care of their oral health. If you need sedation to feel comfortable, we'll make it happen safely.

But please, don't plan on driving yourself or taking an Uber home. We need to know someone who cares about you will be there to help.

Have questions about sedation dentistry? Message me and let's talk about your options.

I feel blessed that I get to work with my wife every day. She may not agree. πŸ˜…

When we opened the practice, I threw her into the deep end. She floats between the front desk and the back, helps with shopping for the office, and handles whatever needs to be done. Every day she's learning something new.

I think she sometimes needs her own space away from me, which is fair. I mean, we're together at home, we're together at work β€” that's a LOT of togetherness.

But I love having her around. She brings a different perspective because she's not coming from a dental background. She asks questions that dental people wouldn't think to ask. She notices things about the patient experience that I might miss because I'm focused on the clinical side.

My daughter is often in the office too. She's nine, and she's growing up watching us build this practice together. She sees what it means to work hard, to care about people, to build something from scratch.
It's a family operation in the truest sense. And while my wife might occasionally want a break from seeing me 24/7, I think (hope?) she'd agree that we're building something pretty special together.

When you call our Palm Beach Gardens dental office, here's what actually happens.

We're a small practice, so the person who answers the phone is someone who actually works here every day, not a call center.
We'll ask your name, how you heard about us, and why you're looking for a dentist or thinking about switching. And yes, we know your first question is usually "Do you take my insurance?" πŸ˜‚

Here's what we do: we offer complimentary insurance verification for all patients and potential patients. We'll check your benefits and get back to you with all the information before you even come in.
If you're in pain, we try to see you that same day. If it's a regular cleaning and exam, we'll get you scheduled at a time that works for you.

Before your appointment, we'll have already verified your insurance (if you have it) and we'll know what your benefits cover. When you arrive, we'll go over everything so there are no surprises.

We don't start treatment without discussing fees first. The fastest way to upset someone is to spend their money without their knowledge, and I never want that to happen.

From the first phone call to the moment you sit in the chair, the goal is transparency and comfort. No games, no surprises, no corporate scripts.

Ready to experience that difference? Call us!

My favorite procedures are extractions, bone grafts, guided bone regeneration, and implants.

Here's the problem: nobody wants to see that content. πŸ˜…

I have hundreds of clinical photos β€” amazing before and after cases showing complex surgical work. I thought patients would love seeing the transformations. But I learned real quick that most people don't want to look at bloody surgical photos.

Which I get! Not everyone is fascinated by the technical details like I am.

But I want you to know that when you need surgery β€” whether it's an extraction, an implant, or a bone graft β€” you want someone who's done hundreds of these procedures and completed 700 hours of advanced surgical training.

It's me. Hi. πŸ‘‹πŸ»

You want someone who loves this work and is constantly learning new techniques to improve outcomes.

You want someone who can turn a complex surgical case into a predictable, relatively quick procedure because they've planned everything meticulously beforehand.

I may not post all the gory details on social media, but that expertise is exactly what you're getting when you sit in my chair.

I brush my teeth too hard sometimes.

I know better. I tell patients all the time to use an electric toothbrush because it helps you avoid brushing too aggressively. But it's a hard habit to break, even when you're a dentist who knows the consequences.

Brushing too hard wears away enamel and can cause gum recession. It's one of those things where you think you're doing something good β€” really getting your teeth clean β€” but you're actually causing damage.
Electric toothbrushes help because they do the work for you. You don't need to scrub. You just guide the brush and let it do its job. Many of them even have pressure sensors that alert you if you're pushing too hard.

I see patients all the time with gum recession and worn enamel from aggressive brushing. They're shocked because they thought they were taking good care of their teeth.

If you're someone who brushes really hard, like you're trying to scrub a pan, switch to an electric toothbrush. Your teeth and gums will thank you.

And if I can break this habit, I'll let you know. πŸ˜…

Have questions about proper brushing technique or choosing the right toothbrush? Call (561) 401-0532 and let's talk.

I've worked in a lot of different places throughout my careerβ€”recording studios, live sound venues, corporate offices, dental practices.

When I worked at USC's School of Dentistry as their audio visual technician, I loved the way everyone just meshed. We all got along. My co-workers and I always had each other's backs. The overall vibe was just... special.

I spent eight years there, and that experience shaped how I think about building my own practice. I want that same sense of teamwork and mutual support.

That's why I'm so intentional about who I hire. I tell people upfront: there's no drama here. We're building something together, and that requires people who genuinely care about the work and about each other.

When you walk into our Palm Beach Gardens dental office, you're walking into an environment where people actually like working together. And I think patients feel that difference.

We have a comfort menu in our office with options like blankets, stress balls, lip balm, and Netflix.

One small issue though is that we haven't yet installed those ceiling TVs for you to watch Netflix on. πŸ˜… We're working on it.

In the meantime, we have nitrous oxide, which is honestly more effective for anxiety than Netflix anyway. But I like the idea of giving patients options β€” whatever helps you feel more comfortable.

The comfort menu exists because everyone's different. Some people want to squeeze a stress ball. Some people just want chapstick so their lips don't get dry. Some people want a blanket because it's cozy, and we do tend to blast the AC.

Small things matter when you're trying to make dental visits less stressful.

What would make YOU more comfortable at the dentist?
Drop it in the comments β€” we'll do our best to make it happen. πŸ’™

A lot of dental practices advertise same-day crowns using CAD/CAM technology. My dad had one of the first CEREC machines available, so I grew up around that technology.

But I don't use it in my practice. Here's why.

CAD/CAM requires significant staff support to implement properly. You need someone dedicated to running the machine, milling the crown, and managing that workflow. We're a small team.

I also have great lab relationships. My labs do excellent work, and while you don't get your crown in two hours, you get a restoration that's been crafted by a skilled technician who specializes in that work.

That said, I absolutely embrace technology where it improves outcomes. I print my own surgical guides for implants because it gives me more control and precision than sending them to a lab. I use digital scanning so patients can see their mouths in 3D. I use digital design for cosmetic cases so we can plan everything before touching your teeth.
Technology for technology's sake doesn't interest me. But technology that genuinely improves patient outcomes? I'm all in.

Want to work with a dentist who's thoughtful about which technology actually matters?

Not all dental implants are created equal. In the past, I kept seeing more bone loss around implants than I wanted to see. It was within the "normal" range for traditional implants, but I knew there was better technology available.

Platform switch implants are designed to minimize bone loss. The research is clear on this. The way the implant connects to the abutment (the part that holds the crown) makes a significant difference in how much bone you retain long-term.

As a patient, you might not notice the difference right away. But five, ten, fifteen years down the road? That preserved bone matters for the longevity and health of your implant.

At Intercoastal Dental, I can choose the implants I know will give my patients the best long-term outcomes. I'm not limited by what's "good enough" or what's cheapest for the practice. When you're investing in an implant β€” something that should last the rest of your life β€” don't you want your dentist using the best available technology?

Have questions about dental implants and what makes one better than another? We'd love to talk about it.

When we asked a patient what makes Intercoastal Dental different, his answer was simple: trust. "The trust is easy to get with Dr. Alex and his staff. I just feel very comfortable here being."

That's what we work for every single dayβ€”creating an environment where you feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for from the moment you walk through our doors. Something else that stuck with us: "They're very personable and they're also very welcoming. So you don't have to worry about any pain or anything of that sort."

We know that for many people, dental visits come with anxiety and uncertainty. That's why we take the time to listen, explain, and meet you exactly where you are. No judgment. No pressure. Just genuine care.

At Intercoastal Dental in Palm Beach Gardens, we don't just treat teethβ€”we build relationships. And that starts with earning your trust, one visit at a time. When you're ready for a dental home that feels different, we're here.
