All it took was one song from Sail North… and this girl was hooked. 🏴‍☠️

Nathan Evans came shortly after, and somewhere along the way sea shanties, pirates, and playing her violin like a fiddle became part of the soundtrack of who Lexi is.

So when we found ourselves in Scotland this summer, there was really only one thing to do. 😂

Pack the pirate costume.

And somehow, Scotland and Ireland understood the assignment. . 📍 Talisker Bay — Isle of Skye, Scotland

Cliffs. Wild seas. A pirate ship(I had to add in)sitting just offshore. Birds of prey. Wind in her hair. And this girl completely in her element.

As a photographer, I’ve spent so many years documenting pieces of other people’s stories. Their babies growing up. Their milestones. The things they love and the people they’re becoming.

But every once in a while, I get to turn my camera toward my own kids.

And today, this one is FIFTEEN. ❤️

Lexi, I hope you never lose this part of yourself. The part that gets completely swept up in something you love. The part that hears a sea shanty and decides you’re apparently a pirate now. 😂 The part that plays music, chases adventure, loves deeply and isn’t afraid to be completely and wonderfully yourself.

Happy 15th birthday to my pirate-loving, sea-shanty-singing, fiddle-playing girl. 🏴‍☠️🎻

Getting to photograph you becoming more and more you will forever be one of my favorite stories to tell.

There’s a whole lot of life waiting on the other side of senior year. 🤍

Madisyn has the kind of energy that makes you think she’s going to make the most of it.

Wandering through wildflowers, climbing around rocks, chasing the last bit of light — and at one point realizing we were surrounded by the sound of wolves howling from what seemed like every direction. 😳😂 Just a normal evening on the Grand Mesa.

She and her amazing parents were up for everything, laughed through all of it, and made creating with her ridiculously fun.

Here’s to senior year, Madisyn — and all the places you’re headed next. ✨

If a picture were worth a thousand words, this one tells a story of sacrifice, unwavering faith, and the kind of joy that was hoped and prayed for long before it arrived. 🤍

I’ve had the incredible honor of photographing their proposal, their wedding, and now this—the beginning of their greatest adventure yet.

Their journey to this little girl has been one of hope, patience, faith, and so much love. Every little piece they brought to this session tells part of that journey—the waiting, the hoping, the prayers, and all it took to get here.

These two are some of the most genuine and kind people, and there is something incredibly special about getting to witness their story unfold through the years. From the beginning of their life together to now watching them become parents.

I know they are going to be incredible at it. 🤍

What an honor it is to watch a love story become a family story.

Since my son has Instagram now, I suppose I’ll spare him the baby photos. 😂 And I’m not going to be the mom who turns his senior post into an emotional novel.

Austin Jacobs don’t be exactly half of an eleven-pound Black Forest ham. 🍍😂

Austin is officially a SENIOR—and he’ll be finishing high school early in December.

I am so incredibly proud of the young man he has become. He is smart, quick-witted, independent, adventurous, kind, and genuinely one of the coolest people I know. He knows who he is, thinks for himself, and isn’t afraid to experience the world.

And this summer, he got to experience quite a bit of it.

Our trip through the UK and Ireland gave us the ridiculously cool opportunity to take his senior photos along the way.

At Aillwee Burren Experience in The Burren, County Clare, Ireland, Austin got to do a Hawk Walk. 🦅 For 45 minutes he walked with hawks flying freely around him, sometimes close enough to brush him with their wings, before calling them back to his glove. Such an incredible experience—and our guide was amazing and very patient with all of my photo requests. 😂

Then came Scotland. ❤️

The Fairy Pools. The Old Man of Storr. Edinburgh. St Giles’ Cathedral.

His favorite was the Old Man of Storr—and apparently Scotland had been hiding in him somewhere all along because that country brought out every bit of red in his hair. 😂

These photos capture a pretty incredible season of his life, and I couldn’t be prouder of the person standing in them.

The storms kept rolling across the Mesa, and she just let them come. No rushing, no worrying—just completely herself beneath a sky that couldn’t quite decide what it wanted to do. And somehow, it made the evening even more beautiful. 🤍

A little golf, THE Good Book, wildflowers, and so many pieces of who she is right now.

And can we talk about those EYES?! 😍

It’s been so fun watching her grow into the beautiful young woman she is, and I can’t wait to see where life takes her next. So many good things ahead for this Palisade High School Class of 2027 senior. ❤️

There are people who walk through life…

…and there are people who dance through it. 🩰

At the very end of her senior session, she slipped into her pointe shoes and transformed a quiet mountain road into a stage.

These are the moments I love most—the ones that aren’t planned, but somehow end up saying the most about who someone is.

What a beautiful way to celebrate the beginning of her senior year. 🤍

Some places aren’t meant to be controlled.

They ask you to slow down.

To listen.

To trust that what unfolds in front of you is far more beautiful than anything you could have planned.

We met before sunrise, lanterns glowing softly against the darkness, as Glencoe slowly revealed itself through layers of mist. Throughout the entire morning, the rain never really stopped. The mist drifted across the mountains, the grass soaked our shoes, and the wind caught the dress exactly when it wanted to. Every few minutes the landscape disappeared… only to reveal itself again in an entirely new way.

Scotland wasn’t interested in giving us perfect conditions.

It gave us something better.

It gave us a story.

Eve and Callum embraced every moment with open hearts. They laughed through the rain, climbed hills before most of the world was awake, wandered through the mist without hesitation, and somehow made one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever seen feel even more alive.

By the time we reached Kilchurn Castle, I realized something.

The photographs I would have missed if the sun had come out.

The quiet.

The softness.

The mystery.

The way the landscape seemed to breathe around them.

Maybe that’s the gift of Scotland.

It reminds you that beauty isn’t something you wait for.

It’s something you choose to see.

To Eve & Callum—thank you for trusting me, embracing the unexpected, and pouring your whole hearts into this experience. These images are some of my favorite I’ve ever had the privilege of creating.
