Let’s walk through a real case from our office where a cavity was discovered on a routine dental X-ray—even though the tooth looked perfectly normal clinically. 🦷

Once we conservatively opened the tooth, the interproximal decay hiding between the teeth became obvious.

Because we found it early, I was able to carefully remove the decay, protect the deepest portion of the tooth, and complete a tooth-colored restoration while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible.

This is why routine dental X-rays matter. Not every cavity hurts, and not every cavity can be seen just by looking in the mouth. Finding these problems early gives us the opportunity to treat them smaller, sooner, and more conservatively.

And these aren’t stock photos—this is a real patient case and my own clinical work.
