Transformation Tuesday!!

This patient had an impacted upper right canine! That means the tooth was unable to move into the mouth on its own and required orthodontic intervention.

We expect the canines to erupt into the mouth by approximately 11-12 years old. Early evaluation and treatment for impacted canines is essential for the best treatment outcomes.

Transformation Tuesday!

This patient had early treatment to correct his anterior cross bite.
Anterior cross bites (when the top teeth sit behind the bottom teeth) need to be treated early, ideally between the ages of 7-10 years-old. Now we will wait for the rest of his permanent teeth to come in to see if any additional treatment is needed.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends your child have their first orthodontic evaluation at approximately 7 years of age to determine if early orthodontic intervention is needed.

Meet the Doctor!

Dr. Dwayne Patritto graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1987 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree followed by a Master of Science degree and a specialty certificate in Orthodontics in 1990. He then joined Dr. Delbert Donovan, who had practiced in Ottumwa since 1959. Dr. Patritto is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the Iowa Society of Orthodontists, and the Iowa Dental Society.

Dr. Patritto enjoys spending time with his wife, Ruth, and their children, Darby and Dillon. You may find him golfing, running, or spending time on his tree farm. He also appreciates relaxing with family and friends at the lake.
