Root canals have a reputation problem. Everyone seems to know someone who had a bad one, and those stories stick.

Here's the truth. Root canals go wrong when they're rushed, or when the person doing them doesn't do them often. When someone does them every week, you get a different experience.

Every root canal in our practice is done by Dr. Rima. That means she's doing them all the time, and it shows in the appointment. You're numb properly. She works at a pace that's comfortable. She checks in. She explains what she's doing as she goes.

Tisha, Jess, Alex, and Jen each have a different hand and a different way about them. When you're new with us, you might try a couple before you find the one who feels right. Once you do, you can book with the same hygienist every time.

Dr. Kyle sees patients one day a week, and his assistants sometimes scold him for talking too much.

He can't help it. He loves hearing about what people do. He'll come back from an appointment with a story about something he just learned, a detail about a patient's work or their trip or their family. He loves to talk!

The rest of the week, he runs the business side of our practice. On the day he's in the chair, his book is packed with patients he's been seeing for fifteen years or more. They come back because of how he works. He's gentle, he takes his time, and he treats every appointment like a chance to catch up with a friend.

The doctor who puts you to sleep for your dental work should be the doctor who does the dental work.

That sounds obvious. It isn't how it always works.

In a lot of practices, sedation means one person handles the IV while another handles your treatment.

Dr. Rima does both. She's our IV sedation specialist, and she also handles the surgical work, root canals, and extractions. You meet her. You trust her. And when you wake up, she's the one who did the work you came in for.

That continuity matters, especially for patients who are nervous to begin with.

Can we take a moment to celebrate our awesome office manager Melinda?

She keeps the whole place running. Schedules, systems, the hundred little things that have to happen for you to walk in, get seen, and leave on time. Most of it you never notice, which is exactly how she wants it.

But Melinda's other gift is the one you do notice. She's our social butterfly. Patients tap on her door as they go by, just to say hello or ask a question they want a bit more attention on.

She knows our patients. Their families. Their kids. The fact that the grandparents are patients too, and the cousin who moved to Oregon City last year.

You'll see her jumping in at the front desk when the phones get busy or someone's at lunch. You'll hear her asking about your trip, your daughter's first year of college, the dog you mentioned three visits ago.

She's been here a long time. Long enough that she knows whole families.

If you're new, Melinda is the extra-friendly face you'll get on your way in or out. If you've been coming here for years, she already knows who you are.
