The truth is, both can keep your teeth clean when used properly. But for most people, an electric toothbrush makes brushing easier and does more of the work for you. If you prefer a manual toothbrush, just be sure to choose one with extra soft bristles.

As a general dentist, I don’t recommend doing this.

Filing your own tooth can expose the inner layer, and that’s where things get really sensitive 🦷

I get it, chips feel urgent and you want to fix them right away. But this is one of those situations where trying to DIY it can make things worse.

In most cases, it’s a quick fix for us. We can smooth it out or bond it properly so you’re not dealing with sensitivity or uneven edges.

If you chip a tooth, don’t try to file it yourself.

Not all gum disease is the same, and I explain this to patients all the time.

Gingivitis is the early stage. Your gums are inflamed, maybe bleeding when you brush, but the good news is it’s completely reversible 🌿

With better habits and consistent cleanings, your gums can get back to being healthy.

Periodontitis is when it’s progressed further. The infection has moved below the gum line and you start losing bone ⚠️

At that point, we can stop it from getting worse, but we can’t reverse the damage.

That’s why catching it early matters so much ⭐️
