Wisdom teeth don't always cause problems right away, which is why many people assume they're fine to leave alone. But when there isn't enough room for them to come in properly, they can create issues that get worse over time.

🌟 Friday was a truly inspiring day at Village Pointe Oral Surgery! We had the pleasure of hosting an incredible UNL student who is passionate about the oral and maxillofacial field. It’s always a joy to connect with bright minds eager to learn and grow in their careers.

Cavities are not just caused by processed, sugary foods. In fact, the earliest cavities archaeologists have discovered date back nearly 54 million years!

The earliest cavities were found in a small, tree-dwelling primate called Microsyops latidens, whose diet included naturally sweet, sugary fruits.

While there is some evidence of tooth decay in Neanderthals, cavities became far more common and well-documented when humans transitioned from hunter-gatherer lifestyles to the Neolithic era of farming and agriculture.

Sugar may have changed forms over time, but cavities have been around much longer than most people think.. which is why taking care of your smile has always mattered! 🦷✨

Dental implants aren’t about age; they’re about oral health and bone support.
Younger adults may need implants due to injury, genetics, or severe decay, while older adults may be excellent candidates as well.
