What’s the difference between Screw-retained vs. cement-retained implant crowns?

🔩 Screw-retained: The crown is secured directly to the implant with a screw and a direct access hole. This makes the restoration easier to remove for maintenance or future repairs.

🦷 Cement-retained: The crown is cemented onto a custom abutment, similar to a traditional crown. This can offer greater flexibility when implant positioning makes a screw access hole less ideal esthetically.

Deciding which implant crown to proceed with depends on the implant position, available space, esthetics, bite, and  patient’s individual needs. Sometimes even a combination is needed!

The goal is always to choose the design that provides the most predictable combination of function, aesthetics, and long-term maintenance ✨

Dental trauma often requires more than simply replacing a missing tooth, it requires careful planning to restore both function and aesthetics.

After experiencing trauma to her front teeth, our patient avulsed tooth 7, while teeth 8 and 9 required root canal treatment. Before any restorative treatment began, she completed orthodontic treatment to establish the ideal tooth position and bite, creating the best foundation for a predictable and long-term result.

Although an implant is an excellent option for replacing a missing tooth, it isn’t always the best choice. Patient required a bone graft before implant placement which would add more time to her treatment and further surgery. In this case, the adjacent front teeth already had existing restorations, making a bridge the more conservative and appropriate treatment option while avoiding additional procedures.

Every treatment plan is individualized. The goal isn’t simply to replace a tooth, it’s to restore function, aesthetics, and long-term health with the solution that best fits the patient’s unique circumstances. ✨

Full mouth reconstruction is more than just restoring teeth, it’s about creating a foundation for long-term health, comfort, and function.

For this case, we chose a comprehensive approach that prioritized preserving natural tooth structure whenever possible. While this may be the most conservative and comfortable path, it also requires the greatest investment of time, patience, and commitment from both the patient and the dental team.

Every step, from diagnosis and planning to provisional restorations and final crowns is carefully designed to create a stable bite, improve aesthetics, and support long-term success.

The best results don’t happen overnight. They come from thoughtful planning, attention to detail, and a shared commitment to the process. ✨

Implant restorations are an excellent long-term option for replacing missing teeth, but they aren’t the right solution for everyone. Factors such as bone quality, medical considerations, anatomy, and finances can all influence treatment decisions.

The good news? There are still predictable and successful alternatives 😄

A well-designed cast metal partial denture can be a durable, functional, and long-lasting solution for tooth replacement. Success comes from thoughtful treatment planning, accurate impressions, step by step communication, and a prosthesis designed to work harmoniously with the patient’s existing teeth and bite.

Our patient’s composite veneers were ready for an upgrade!

By transitioning to porcelain veneers, we were able to achieve a beautiful shade  match, enhance aesthetics, and improve long-term durability.

Porcelain offers superior stain resistance and strength, helping create a natural appearance while also supporting the structural integrity of the teeth. 🦷✨

Oral health is about more than just your smile, it’s an important part of your overall health! 🦷

Research has shown that chronic dental infections and periodontal disease can contribute to inflammation throughout the body and have been linked to conditions affecting cardiovascular health, diabetes management, and other systemic health concerns.

In this case, our patient in her mid-80s had extensive dental disease and infection. By removing the source of infection, we were able to support not only her oral health, but her overall health moving forward.

Immediate dentures were delivered the same day to help maintain aesthetics and function while the tissues heal. They also serve as an important transitional prosthesis, before fabricating the final overdentures.

The transformation is more than cosmetic, it’s a step toward a healthier future ✨

Our patient was unhappy with the aesthetics of her existing implant crown, feeling that it appeared too flared and too small compared to the surrounding teeth.

To address her concerns, we returned to the temporary phase to carefully mold and sculpt the tissue before fabricating the final crown. Working in the esthetic zone often requires balancing implant positioning, tissue architecture, and existing bone loss to create the most natural result possible.

In this case, we had to work with a flared implant position and a bony defect from the missing tooth while refining the emergence profile and overall contours of the restoration.

Through careful adjustments, tissue molding, and detailed customization, we were able to achieve a more natural, harmonious result that better complemented her smile. ✨

Guess which tooth was worked on! Swipe to see the answer 👉🏼

This case involved collaboration between orthodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics to restore a lower anterior tooth with the most conservative treatment approach possible.

Through careful planning, orthodontic positioning, implant placement, tissue molding during the temporary phase, and dental lab collaboration, we were able to achieve a natural emergence profile, seamless crown shade match, and improved overall function.

The goal isn’t just replacing a tooth, it’s preserving the long-term health of the teeth, gums, and bone while creating a result that looks and feels natural.

A team approach, thoughtful planning, and attention to detail make all the difference in patient care and comprehensive treatment! ✨

Hybrid restorations, also known as “All-on-X,” are a great fixed option for patients needing full arch rehabilitation.

By supporting a full arch prosthesis on a strategic number of implants, this approach provides stability, function, and aesthetics. As a fixed solution, it offers enhanced comfort, confidence, and chewing efficiency compared to removable options.

Long-term success, depends on consistent maintenance including excellent home care, regular professional cleanings, and healthy lifestyle habits to support the implants and surrounding tissue.

A strong foundation is just the start, maintenance is key to keeping it that way! ✨
