Our patient was unhappy with the aesthetics of her existing implant crown, feeling that it appeared too flared and too small compared to the surrounding teeth.

To address her concerns, we returned to the temporary phase to carefully mold and sculpt the tissue before fabricating the final crown. Working in the esthetic zone often requires balancing implant positioning, tissue architecture, and existing bone loss to create the most natural result possible.

In this case, we had to work with a flared implant position and a bony defect from the missing tooth while refining the emergence profile and overall contours of the restoration.

Through careful adjustments, tissue molding, and detailed customization, we were able to achieve a more natural, harmonious result that better complemented her smile. ✨

This case involved collaboration between orthodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics to restore a lower anterior tooth with the most conservative treatment approach possible.

A history of fractured, failing teeth from deep bite and decay left our patient struggling to function and hesitant to smile.

Our final treatment plan: upper and lower implant-retained overdentures.                                                                                                                                            

In this initial phase, we focused on increasing the vertical dimension to re-establish a more functional occlusion while carefully assessing the response of the muscles of mastication and TMJ.

Transitioning from dentate to fully edentulous while increasing the vertical dimension requires precise planning to ensure comfort, function, and stability. As she heals from extractions and implant placement, this provisional phase allows us to evaluate esthetics, phonetics, and biomechanics, setting the stage for a seamless final prosthesis.

Even in temporaries, the transformation is meaningful as she smiles with confidence again 😄

Well fitting dentures are a great alternative for missing teeth. As we age the bone and tissue in our mouth can alter causing dentures to feel uncomfortable after several years.

That’s why it’s EXTREMELY important to get yearly check-ups by your dentist/prosthodontist so they can evaluate the fit, bite, and overall health of the mouth and denture. Through these checkups we can determine whether a new denture is needed or if any adjustments are required.
