“It's just a button.”

Until it's the third time you've tried to fasten it.

Or the jar you can't open. The groceries you can't carry the way you want. The little things that somehow become the hardest parts of your day.

And sometimes, it's not even about the task itself.

It's about being tired of having to figure out another way to do it.

If you're using an upper-limb prosthesis and everyday tasks are still a struggle, we’d love to have a conversation.

We believe the little things deserve just as much attention as the big ones. 💛

You don't look for a place to sit. You look for an escape route.

The chair by the door. The bench across the room. That one spot where you know you can take a break.

You've already mapped them out before anyone else even notices.

When every step takes more energy than it should, sitting down isn't always about wanting a break.

Sometimes, it's about needing one.

And if you're constantly planning your day around how far you can walk before you need to stop, it's worth having a conversation.

Your prosthesis should be helping you live your life. Not making you calculate every step. 💛

You can walk in it.

But does it hurt? Rub? Leave you counting the minutes until you can take it off?

Being able to walk is one thing. Being comfortable enough to live your life is another.

And you shouldn't have to settle for one without the other.

That's worth having a conversation about. 💛

You can miss your old body without hating the one you have now.

You can miss how you used to move.

How things used to feel.

How little thought some things took.

And still love and appreciate the life you're building now.

Both can be true.

Limb loss can come with grief. And grief doesn't disappear just because you're doing well.

You don't have to choose between missing what was and appreciating what is.

There's room for both.

You remembered the question.
In the parking lot.
Of course you did.

Appointment over.
Halfway to the car.

And suddenly…

Wait. What about that pressure spot?
When am I supposed to come back?
Was I supposed to be doing something differently?

Yep. That question.

Write it down, or call us.

Because your questions don't stop mattering when you walk out the door.

Good prosthetic care isn't one appointment. It's an ongoing conversation.

Even when part of that conversation starts in the parking lot.

The weather changed.
And apparently, so did your socket fit.

Last week? Fine.

This week?
You’re adding a sock.
Adjusting it again.
Feeling pressure that wasn’t there before.

You didn’t suddenly forget how to wear your prosthesis.

Your limb changes.

Temperature. Hydration. Activity. Swelling. Even small changes in volume can change the way your socket feels.

And here’s the part we don’t want you brushing off:

“I can make it work” is not the same as “it fits right.”

If you’re spending more time adjusting your prosthesis than living in it, it’s worth paying attention.

PT isn’t the place for “it’s fine.”

That spot that keeps rubbing? Say something.

That movement you’re avoiding because it doesn’t feel right? Tell them.

That thing you can technically do, but it hurts every time? That matters too.

Physical therapy isn’t about proving how tough you are. It’s about figuring out what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change so you can move with more confidence.

And sometimes, the answer isn’t simply “work harder.”

Your physical therapist and prosthetist are part of the same team. If something about your prosthesis is making therapy harder than it should be, that’s a conversation worth having.

For National Physical Therapy Month, here’s your reminder: don’t give your PT the polite answer. Give them the honest one.

You can be grateful and still be frustrated.
Those feelings don’t cancel each other out.

Grateful for how far you’ve come. Frustrated that some days are still this hard.

Proud of your progress. Tired of having to work so hard for it.

You don’t have to choose one feeling and pretend the other isn’t there.

Some days feel good. Some days are just hard.

That doesn’t make you ungrateful.

It makes you human.

“You can’t even tell.” But is that really the goal?

Maybe it feels like a compliment. Maybe it doesn’t.

Maybe you cover your prosthesis most days. Maybe you stopped caring who sees it. Maybe it depends on the day.

There’s no right way to feel about something that’s both part of your body and part of your story.

Your prosthesis doesn’t have to be invisible. And it doesn’t have to make a statement either.

It just needs to work for you and the life you want to live. 💛

“I’m probably getting too old for that anyway.”

So you skip the trip.

Let someone else do the yard work.

Watch the grandkids play instead of getting down there with them.

And little by little, “I’m getting older” can start turning into “I don’t do that anymore.”

But healthy aging isn’t about trying to feel 25 again.

It’s about holding onto the things that still make your life feel like yours.

The people. The places. The routines. The independence.

You don’t have to stay young.

You just want to stay in your life.
