For two days in Kalamazoo, access to dental care wasn't a barrier.

771 patients received care. $1,246,388 in donated dental treatment was provided. And each patient received an average of 7.3 procedures.

That's what happens when volunteers, sponsors, donors, and community partners come together with a shared purpose: helping people get the care they need.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 MDA Foundation Mission of Mercy possible.

Every dentist remembers the person who inspired them to pursue the profession.

On July 11, the Discovering Dentistry Symposium will give students from across the Upper Peninsula a chance to explore dentistry through hands-on learning, mentorship, and career exploration.

If we're serious about building the future dental workforce in the UP, it starts by inspiring the next generation.

It's easy to focus on what's next.

But every now and then, it's worth looking back.

From the earliest days of organized dentistry in Michigan to today's modern practices, generations of dentists have helped shape the profession we know today.

Since 1856, the MDA has been part of that journey.

We're proud of where we've been—and even more excited about where we're going.

Take a look at how far we've come.

Will AI strengthen the dentist-patient relationship—or challenge it?

Patients are already using AI to research symptoms, explore treatment options, and seek answers before they ever step into your office.

What does that mean for trust? Communication? Case acceptance?

The conversation around AI isn't coming someday—it's already here.

Join us for *AI and the Future of Patient Relationships* and learn how emerging technologies are reshaping the way patients gather information, make decisions, and interact with their healthcare providers.

The dentists who thrive in the years ahead won't be the ones who ignore AI. They'll be the ones who understand it and use it to strengthen the human connection at the heart of patient care.

Every dental office has one.

The person who always knows where something is, remembers every detail, fixes problems before they become problems, and somehow has the answer to every question.

They're the glue that holds everything together.

Who's the go-to person in your office? Give them a shoutout in the comments—they've probably earned it. 👏

"I didn't know something like this was even possible."

That's a comment we heard more than once during the 2026 MDA Foundation Mission of Mercy.

For two days in Kalamazoo, volunteers from across Michigan (and beyond) came together to provide dental care for people who needed it most.

To every dentist, dental team member, student, sponsor, donor, and volunteer who gave their time and talents: thank you.

Mission of Mercy only happens because people are willing to show up and help. Once again, you did.

We're still compiling the final results from this year's event and look forward to sharing more in the days ahead.

For now, we're simply grateful.

Thank you for making it all possible.

Policy conversations are important.

Seeing the need firsthand is even better.

Sen. Sean McCann, Rep. Matt Longjohn, and Tim Culver from Speaker Matt Hall's office joined MDA Board President Dr. Melanie Mayberry and MDA Foundation leaders for a tour of Mission of Mercy in Kalamazoo.

From the clinic floor to conversations with volunteers and dental leaders, they saw the impact of this event and the oral health challenges facing many Michigan residents.

Connecting policymakers with the realities facing patients and providers is an important part of MDA Advocacy.
