Here’s something patients ask us all the time: “What is a dental implant, actually?”

It’s three parts working together:

Post: sits in the bone and acts as the new root
Abutment: the connector
Crown: the part you see and chew with

Each piece has a job, and together they replace the whole tooth, not just the part above the gums.

Not everyone is a candidate, and implants aren’t the only option. An exam and imaging tell us what makes sense for your situation.
