🪥✨ Not too much, not too little… just the right amount!

When it comes to toothpaste, a little goes a long way! 🦷💫

👶 Under age 3: Use a smear (rice-grain sized) amount of toothpaste.
🧒 Ages 3–6: Use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste.

And remember: spit, don’t rinse! 💦

🎃🍂 Hello, October! Fall into healthy habits! 👻

As we head into a new month, it’s a great time to keep those little smiles healthy all season long:

🪥 Brush twice a day
✨ Floss daily
🦷 Make sure your child’s fall dental cleaning is scheduled

A little prevention goes a long way toward keeping those smiles happy and healthy! 💛

A little change in words can make a BIG difference! ✨🦷

We use kid-friendly words to help our patients feel more comfortable, confident, and ready for their dental visits. From the words we choose to the way we explain things, we're all about making the dentist a positive experience.

🦷Teeth are for chewing, smiling, and talking- not for doing the job of your toolbox! 🛠️

Chewing ice, biting your nails, or pulling apart Legos might seem harmless, but these little habits can lead to chips, cracks, and wear over time.

A little reminder to treat those teeth with care and let them do what they do best- chew, talk, and smile! ✨

A little preparation can go a long way in helping your child feel comfortable, confident, and positive about their dental visit!

Here are a few things to avoid before their visit:

🚫 Avoid scary words. Words like “shot,” “needle,” “pain,” or “hurt” can create fear before your child even arrives. Instead, let our dental team explain things in a child-friendly way.

😴 Avoid scheduling during nap time. A tired or overtired child may have a harder time adjusting to a new environment and experience.

🩺 Avoid stacking stressful appointments. If possible, try not to schedule dental visits right before or after another challenging appointment, such as a blood draw or difficult doctor’s visit.

💛 Keep it positive! Try not to project your own dental fears or past experiences onto your child. Avoid saying, “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt,” as your child may not have been thinking about pain until it was mentioned. Instead, use simple, positive language and let our dental team guide them through the visit.

🥤 Which cup is best for your little one?

As a pediatric dentist, one question I get from parents all the time is, “What kind of cup should my child be using?”

When it comes to developing smiles, we want to encourage drinking patterns that support healthy oral and jaw development. After age 1, transitioning away from the bottle is an important step, and when possible, open cups are a great choice. Straw cups can also be a helpful option, especially for little ones who are still learning!

We generally want to avoid cups that require strong sucking to get the liquid out, such as traditional sippy cups and valve cups.

Looking for some cup options to try? Here are a few of our favorites: 💙

Every child develops at their own pace, so find the option that works best for your little one and their stage of development! 🦷✨

🧚‍♀️✨ Happy Tooth Fairy Day! 🦷💫

Our Tooth Fairy has an important reminder for all our little ones: Don’t forget to brush AND floss! 🪥🧵

Even the Tooth Fairy knows that healthy smiles take a little teamwork! 💙 Keep brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and showing those smiles some love. ✨

Now tell us… is the Tooth Fairy visiting your house soon? 🧚‍♀️😉
