Many of our patients experience gum recession. Often times the recession is a source of root sensitivity or is an aesthetic concern. In the top photo we see gum recession that was causing our patient some tooth sensitivity. Recession can be genetic or caused by traumatic tooth brushing or other habits. Fortunately after seeing Dr. Santiago for a gum graft, the patient was out of pain and now has nice thick gum tissue covering his once exposed roots. If you have recession and want to know if you're a candidate for a gum graft call us today for a consultation.

Here we see two examples of the regenerative power of lasers in dentistry! On the left we see dark shadows around the roots of these teeth indicating bone loss and infection. Using the LANAP protocol Dr. Santiago was able to significantly regenerate new bone and attachment using the PerioLase. The photos on the right of the slide show new bone growth were there was previous disease in only 10-12 months post treatment. We love to see our patients being able to keep their natural teeth whenever possible! To learn more about how we use lasers to treat periodontal disease and save teeth call our office for a consultation today!

Here at East Bay Perio we understand the anxiety that comes with losing a front tooth. Dr. Santiago helped this patient by removing their infected front tooth and placing an implant the same day. We use digital planning and 3D printed guided surgery help to make sure the implant is placed in the best position for a final tooth so that you can feel confident and smiling again!

Furcation Friday! Here we see bone loss (dark oval) between the roots of this molar due to a periodontal abscess. This area between the roots is called a furcation and traditionally is very difficult to treat. Fortunately Dr. Santiago was able to use a laser for a minimally invasive approach to remove the infection and regenerate the lost bone (second slide, 6 months post-treatment). The patient was very happy to get out of pain and keep their tooth! If you have bone loss due to periodontal disease, call us to schedule an appointment to learn more about your treatment options.
