šŸ’ØAirway dentistry is one of the fastest-growing topics in pediatric dentistry—but it’s also one of the most misunderstood.

ā€¼ļøOne of the biggest misconceptions is that there’s one treatment that works for every child. The reality is that there isn’t.

šŸ™ŒšŸ½Every child deserves a thorough evaluation. We look at jaw growth, facial development, tongue function, breathing patterns, sleep symptoms, bite, and medical history to understand the whole picture—not just one finding.

šŸ«When appropriate, we also recommend evaluations with specialists such as an ENT, along with collaboration with pediatricians, myofunctional therapists, orthodontists, sleep physicians, allergists, speech, occupational, physical therapists, body workers and other healthcare professionals. ✨The best treatment plans are often built by a team.

šŸ‘ƒAs much as we’d like every child to improve with conservative treatment alone, that’s not always the answer. Sometimes myofunctional therapy, nasal hygiene, allergy management, or growth guidance may help. Other times, enlarged adenoids or tonsils may be a significant contributor, and evidence supports adenotonsillectomy as an important first-line treatment for many children with obstructive sleep-disordered breathing.

šŸ™šŸ½Our goal isn’t to recommend the same treatment for every child—it’s to help families understand why a treatment is recommended and make informed decisions based on each child’s unique needs.

✨ Every child deserves to breathe well, sleep well, and grow well.

šŸ‘‡ What questions do you have about airway dentistry? I’d love to answer them in a future video.

🪄As a pediatric dentist, I see the same preventable problems every single day.

ā˜€ļøThe good news? A few simple habits at home can make a huge difference.

✨ Lift the lip once a month to look for white or brown spots near the gums.
šŸŽ Avoid grazing all day. It’s not just what your child eats—it’s how often. Giving teeth a break between snacks allows them to recover and lowers the risk of cavities.
🪄 Brush all the way to the back teeth. This is where I’m finding the majority of cavities in young children because it’s the easiest area to miss.

🐾Tiny changes today can prevent cavities, dental emergencies, and even treatment under sedation later on.

šŸ’™ Save this for your next brushing routine and send it to another parent. Your child’s smile is worth 30 seconds.

šŸ‘€If I did it… so can anyone.

šŸ’„Friendly reminder to drown out the noise and keep going. It wasn’t easy, and it still isn’t—but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

ā€¼ļøThere will always be people who question your vision, doubt your abilities, or tell you something can’t be done. Don’t let someone else’s limits become your own.

šŸ’•For me, success has never been about proving people wrong. It’s about staying true to the mission, showing up every day, and continuing to grow—even when it’s hard.

🫧And to be clear, I haven’t done this alone. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to build an amazing team and work alongside an incredible associate who shares the same passion for caring for kids and their families. None of this happens because of one person—it happens because of people who believe in the same purpose.

šŸ’So if you’re sitting on a dream, wondering if you’re qualified enough, experienced enough, or ready enough… this is your reminder to start anyway.

Keep going. The people you’re meant to help are waiting for you. šŸ’™

šŸ¤”Did you know an expander doesn’t just make room for crowded teeth?

🌱In growing children, the upper jaw is made of two halves joined by a seam called the **midpalatal suture**. An expander gently applies pressure to that suture, allowing it to gradually open as new bone forms in between.

šŸ˜¬šŸ‘ƒAs the upper jaw widens, the floor of the nose widens too. That can increase the space inside the nasal airway, making it easier for many children to breathe through their nose instead of their mouth.

šŸ§‘ā€šŸ§‘ā€šŸ§’Every child is different, and an expander isn’t the answer for every breathing concern. But when a child has a narrow upper jaw, crowding, crossbite, snoring, or signs of airway restriction, early orthopedic treatment may help guide growth in a healthier direction.

🦷We’re not just creating space for teeth—we’re creating space for healthy growth, better breathing, and improved function.

✨ If you’re wondering whether your child’s jaw is developing as it should, we’d love to evaluate them.

ā“They only have a few teeth... do they really need a dentist yet?ā€ šŸ¤”

āœ…Actually, yes! And waiting too long is one of the easiest ways for cavities to sneak up on your little one.
