Sometimes, a dramatic improvement to a smile doesn’t have to begin with porcelain.

For these two front teeth, we used composite veneers to create an immediate, natural-looking enhancement — a beautiful option when someone wants to improve their smile right away.

Composite veneers can look amazing, especially during the first year or two. But it’s important to understand their limitations.

Unlike high-quality porcelain, composite can gradually lose its polish, absorb stains, change color, and become darker over time. It is also less resistant to wear and may be more prone to chipping or breaking, particularly in patients who grind or clench.

With proper care, longevity varies, but composite veneers are generally considered a shorter-term restoration, often lasting several years (average 5 years),rather than providing the longer-term color stability and durability we expect from porcelain.

For the right patient, however, they can be an amazing temporary smile enhancement — conservative, artistic, and capable of making a beautiful difference.
