Oral health exams are crucial for children for several reasons such as:

1. Early Detection of Dental Issues
2. Prevention of Dental Problems
3. Monitoring Growth and Development
4. Establishing Good Oral Hygiene Habits
5. Dietary Guidance
6. Preventing Tooth Decay
7. Promoting a Positive Dental Experience
8. Monitoring Teething and Eruption of Teeth
9. Oral Cancer Screening
10. Overall Health Connection

🌟🦷 Regular oral health exams in childhood set the stage for a lifetime of good oral hygiene habits, contribute to overall health, and address any dental concerns promptly when detected at an early stage.

So don't forget to schedule your child's dental visits every 6 months! 😁

✨Note that the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and other dental organizations have recognized the benefits of SDF, especially in managing early childhood caries.

And in case you were wondering if there are any potential risks associated with its use:
Do keep in mind that one of the most significant concerns is the potential for staining. SDF can turn the affected tooth and surrounding tissues black or dark brown. This staining is usually a cosmetic issue rather than a health concern.

The decision to use SDF should be made on a case-by-case basis by your child's pediatric dentist, considering the patient's dental health and aesthetic concerns.

You might still wondered...

How young is too young for sedation?

What are the advantages of sedation?

What is the recovery time?

When will my child be able to return to school/daycare?

These are all valid questions and know that not every child needs anesthesia.

However, how do we AVOID such conversation with your child's dentist?

It all starts with practicing good oral hygiene habits at home. So remember, BRUSH those little pearly whites 2x Daily with Fluoride toothpaste and FLOSS 1x daily. This will help prevent any unwanted dental visits (at least every 6 months!)😄

👇Check out some tips to keep your little pearly whites in top shape!

#1- After a long night of trick-or-treating, don’t neglect the proper oral care for your child. Brush that candy – and the sugar monsters that come with it – away with at least two minutes of brushing and flossing before bed.

#2- You will have candy for weeks, so maybe try to limit access to the candy so that it is eaten at specific times, rather than snacking throughout the day.

#3- It's hard staying away from chewy, sticky candies like gummies, caramels but try to encourage healthier treats like pretzels or crackers to keep acidity levels under better control.

We hope this helps. Have FUN, stay Safe & remember that Sugar Monsters are not just a Halloween terror, they can prey year round, so make it a routine to brush 2x a day!
