🩸 Post-op bleeding: What’s normal?
Not all bloody gauze means active bleeding!
✅ Light pink or moderately red: Usually mild oozing. Remove the gauze and monitor.
🔴 Deep red or soaked gauze: Apply firm pressure with fresh gauze for 30–60 minutes. A moistened black or green tea bag may also help.
⚠️ If heavy bleeding persists, contact your oral surgeon.

My son has experienced recurrent nosebleeds, so I wanted to share an example of how I’m treating them.

For a nosebleed, start by leaning forward and applying firm, continuous pressure to the soft part of the nose for 10–15 minutes. Oxymetazoline nasal spray can sometimes help with persistent bleeding when used as directed.

For recurrent nosebleeds, targeted silver nitrate cauterization of an identified bleeding site may be appropriate. Stubborn or recurrent bleeding may require evaluation by an ENT specialist.
