Can LANAP Laser Help My Gum Recession?

If you're struggling with gum recession, you're not alone. Gum recession is a common dental issue that can lead to increased sensitivity, an uneven smile, and even tooth loss if left untreated. But there's good news - the LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) laser can help reverse the effects of gum recession and restore your oral health.

As a skilled NYC periodontist, Dr Kissel is one of the first periodontists to combine the advantages of the microscope with LANAP. This minimally invasive procedure stimulates the regrowth of healthy gum tissue, helping to cover exposed tooth roots and protect your smile.

The benefits of LANAP laser treatment for gum recession include:

🦷 Gives your body a chance to heal itself
🦷 Reduced discomfort and bleeding
🦷 Eliminates bacteria and preserves healthy tissue
🦷 Return to normal activities in less than a day
🦷 Unlike traditional gum disease treatment, it will not lower the gumline significantly
🦷 Stimulates new bone growth around existing teeth, adding support and strength

If you're ready to take control of your gum recession and enjoy a healthier, more confident smile, Dr Kissel is here to help. Contact him at his Midtown Manhattan periodontal office today to schedule a consultation and learn more about how the LANAP laser can benefit you.

Socket Preservation and Ridge Augmentation: Preparing for Dental Implants

Are you considering dental implants in NYC? Dr Kissel, a leading periodontist and dental implant specialist, can help you ensure your smile is ready for the transformation. Socket preservation and ridge augmentation are key to preparing your jaw for dental implants, maintaining the natural shape of your jaw, and preventing bone resorption.

When a tooth is lost, the jawbone begins to resorb, but with socket preservation, Dr Kissel can fill the empty socket with bone graft material, retaining the jaw’s shape and strength. Ridge augmentation takes this a step further, reconstructing larger sections of the jawbone to provide a solid foundation for your future dental implants.

Dr Kissel uses cutting-edge techniques, including bioactive materials like stem cells and bone morphogenetic protein, to ensure the best outcomes for your dental health and aesthetics. With over two decades of experience, Dr Kissel’s skillful surgeries come with predictable results and minimal complications.

Ready to take the next step towards a confident smile? Call Dr Kissel’s Midtown Manhattan periodontal office or book your consultation online today. Let’s prepare your smile for a brighter future!

Jaw Bone Grafting: The Key to Strong Jaw Bone Support for Dental Implants

Are you considering dental implants? If so, understanding bone grafting is essential. Dr Scott Kissel, a board-certified periodontist in NYC, specializes in both bone rebuilding and dental implant surgeries.

What is Bone Grafting?

Our tooth roots do more than just hold our teeth in place. They actually stimulate the growth of jaw bone tissue. However, if you’ve lost a tooth or teeth and haven’t replaced them immediately, you may experience jaw bone tissue loss. Without adequate jaw bone tissue, dental implants can’t be placed without first undergoing a bone rebuilding surgery. Dr Kissel tailors this procedure to each patient’s unique needs.

Typical Bone Grafting Procedure:

🦷 Dr Kissel numbs you with anesthesia for comfort.
🦷 An incision is made to access your jaw bone.
🦷 The chosen materials are placed into your jaw bone and secured.
🦷 The surgical site is sutured up.
🦷 Recovery involves antibiotics, pain management, and a soft food diet.

Why Choose Dr Kissel?

For over 25 years, Dr Kissel has been placing high-quality dental implants using microsurgery techniques. His approach ensures easier and faster recovery, resulting in a natural-looking smile.

Ready to enhance your smile? Contact Dr Kissel’s NYC periodontal office today for more information on bone grafting and dental implants. Your healthy smile is our passion!

Signs Your Gums Need Attention: Early Detection of Gum Disease

Are your gums trying to tell you something? As a New York City periodontist, Dr. Scott Kissel is here to decode the subtle messages your gums are sending. Early detection of gum disease is crucial for maintaining optimal oral health. Let’s discuss the signs you should never ignore:

🦷 Gum Redness and Swelling: Healthy gums should appear pink and firm. If yours are red, swollen, or tender, it’s time to pay attention. Gum diseases often start with inflammation along the gumline.
🦷 Bleeding Gums: Do your gums bleed during brushing or flossing? This common early sign of gum disease shouldn’t be ignored. It’s a signal that your gums need some TLC.
🦷 Persistent Bad Breath: Gum disease can cause chronic bad breath (halitosis) due to the presence of bacteria in the mouth. Those little microbes release toxins that contribute to odor.

Don't wait until it becomes a bigger problem! Early detection of gum disease allows for easier treatment and helps prevent future complications like tooth loss and even health issues like heart disease.

Dr. Kissel’s expertise extends to using dental microsurgery for most gum disease treatments, ensuring precise and effective results. Schedule a consultation today to discuss your gum health and explore personalized treatment options. A healthy smile starts with healthy gums!

Fight Gum Disease with LANAP Laser Treatment

Struggling with swollen, bleeding gums? You're not alone! But gum disease doesn't have to control your smile. At Dr Kissel’s Midtown Manhattan periodontal office, they offer LANAP® laser treatment, a minimally invasive way to combat gum problems and get your smile healthy again.

LANAP uses gentle and precise laser pulses to target and eliminate bacteria between your gum and teeth that cause gum disease. Unlike traditional surgery, there are no scalpels or sutures involved, minimizing discomfort and healing time. Plus, the laser promotes gum tissue reattachment and bone regeneration, leading to long-term health for your smile.

What’s more, Dr Kissel offers patients LANAP laser treatment conducted with a microscope. He is one of the first NYC periodontists to combine the advantages of the microscope with LANAP. Used together, these instruments allow for the removal of more tartar and significantly increase the likelihood of reattachment of gum tissue or regeneration of bone to your tooth.

Important Update on Dental X-Rays at Dr. Kissel's NYC Periodontics!

Recently, the American Dental Association has updated guidelines for your safety during dental X-rays. Here's what they have recommended and what you should be aware of:

☑️ No more lead aprons or thyroid collars since these accessories are unnecessary and can even hinder image quality. Modern digital X-rays, like the ones used at Dr Kissel’s Manhattan periodontal office, and precise beam targeting can minimize radiation exposure, making these shields unnecessary.
☑️ X-rays should be ordered judiciously. We prioritize using existing images and only recommend new X-rays when essential for optimal care.
☑️ Safety remains a priority. We follow best practices for minimal radiation exposure, including digital imaging, proper positioning, and restricted beam size.

We're committed to your safety and well-being. If you have any questions about X-rays, please don't hesitate to ask!

We have been providing periodontal and dental implant services to patients from Midtown East, Murray Hill, Hell's Kitchen, Yorkville, Greenwich Village, Gramercy Park, and Lower Manhattan for over 25 years.
