BMS Family Health and Wellness Centers is an FQHC Health Center Across our 7 (existing and new) clinical sites we have a total of 52,000 sq. ft.

and 77 exam rooms devoted to clinical services, which include: Adult Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease (including HIV/AIDS medical, Prevention, case management, and testing services), Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Dentistry, Psychology, Psychiatry, Nephrology, Optometry, Podiatry, Pulmonology, Physical Therapy, Cardiology and Gastroenterology, Urgent Care Services, and a wide array of preventive, health education and enabling services such as Adolescent Health, Geriatric Support, Smoking Cessation, and Nutritional Support/Weight Management. We have implemented a number of pioneering and innovative initiatives over the years to improve service delivery and engage high-risk individuals, including Electronic Health Records, Drop-In Group Medical Appointments; the Brownsville Community Farmers’ Market (the only health center-operated farmers’ market in Brooklyn); and the World Academy for Total Community Health (WATCH), a health-themed high school.

Today, the BMS family came together to celebrate Dr. Camille Taylor-Mullings and her 32 years of service.

For Dr. T, quality was never optional. In 1998, BMS earned Joint Commission accreditation, and at the time we were the only freestanding health center in Brooklyn to hold it. We’ve kept it ever since. In 2012, we earned Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition, and we’ve kept that too.

This year, BMS earned six national quality recognition badges and was one of only three health centers selected by NACHC for its 2026 Best and Promising Practices award. Dr. T herself received a 2026 Health Excellence Award at the 55th Annual Caucus of the NYS Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislators, presented through Senator Roxanne Persaud’s office.

Dr. T would be the first to tell you these honors belong to the whole BMS family.

Dr. Camille Taylor-Mullings came to BMS as an internist, fresh from her residency at Kings County Hospital. Decades later, she is our Chief Medical Officer, and she is beginning a new chapter. Dr. T built her career here one role at a time. She served as lead physician for Adult Medicine, then Assistant Medical Director, then founding Deputy Medical Director of BMS at Bristol when it opened in 2006. Today she oversees clinical care across all four of our clinical sites. Over the next few weeks, we're honoring the leader our patients and team know as Dr. T. Thank you, Dr. T. Your story is a BMS story.

🎒📚 Back-to-school season is here!

As students and families across our community head back to school, we’re looking back at a special day at BMS!

Last month, our Back-to-School Health Event brought families together for well-child visits, vaccinations, free haircuts and hairstyling, and backpacks filled with school supplies—all to help our young patients start the school year healthy, prepared, and ready to succeed.

BMS was proud to join Senator Roxanne Persaud's SD19 Community Fun Day at Canarsie Park! 💙

Our Outreach Team had a great time connecting with families, sharing information about BMS services, giving away free books, and getting creative with arts and crafts for the kids. 📚🎨

Thank you to Senator Persaud and her team for bringing our community together for an afternoon filled with fun, resources, and connection.

Is your child due for a well-child visit? Get a head start on the school year by scheduling an appointment at BMS Main.

Children who complete a well-child visit can receive FREE back-to-school supplies and a backpack at the end of their appointment, while supplies last.

A strong school year starts with making sure our children are healthy, prepared, and ready to learn. If your child is due for a checkup, now is a great time to get it done—and pick up some school essentials along the way.

Still proud. 🎓

A month ago, on June 24 at Medgar Evers College, two graduates crossed the stage at the World Academy for Total Community Health High School, better known as W.A.T.C.H. BMS was there to celebrate them.

Here's what most people don't know: BMS founded this school.

W.A.T.C.H. is a health-career public high school with a Nursing Assistant program, a youth farm, and youth violence prevention programming, co-located with our BMS school-based health center. We built it because we believe the path to a healthier Brownsville runs straight through its young people. Its motto says it all: "Where We Enter to Learn and We Leave to Achieve."

This year, we presented two named scholarships.

Fatimah Braimah received the Joseph K. Francois Valedictorian Scholarship, for academic excellence.

Gendry Torres received the Paul F. Chandler Community Service Award, named in honor of the late Paul F. Chandler, former BMS Board Chair.

Rosemary Polanco, our school-based health center Practice Manager, and members of our Board, including Vice Chair Yvonne Graham and Valerie Chandler, sister of the late Paul F. Chandler, were all there in person.

A month later, we're still proud. Fatimah and Gendry, you are exactly who this school was built for. Go achieve.

Meet Arezoo Termechi.

BMS is proud to welcome Arezoo as our new Vice President of Inpatient & Outpatient Behavioral Health Services.

Arezoo came to this country as a refugee, arriving as a teenager and building a life in New York from there. That experience shaped the work she has done ever since - nearly thirty years of leadership in behavioral health, focused on the communities most often overlooked: people experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, families navigating mental illness and substance use, adults and children who need care but face too many closed doors.

Now she is here, leading the next chapter of BMS's behavioral health program.

Arezoo brings a rare combination: three decades of clinical and executive experience across inpatient, outpatient, and crisis behavioral health settings, an MSW from Adelphi, a Bachelor's from Queens College, and an MBA in progress at Boston University's Questrom School of Business. She has built teams, managed multi-million-dollar programs, and translated strategic vision into measurable results across her career.

But what our community should know most is this: she chose BMS because our patients are her patients — the people her whole career has been shaped by serving.

Welcome, Arezoo. Brownsville and East New York are lucky to have you.
