September is World Alzheimer’s Month. 💜

For people living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, maintaining good oral health can become more challenging as routines, memory, mobility, and communication change.

That’s why compassionate, accessible dental care matters.
For some patients, leaving home for a dental appointment can feel overwhelming. House call dentistry can help bring care into a familiar environment, making it easier to maintain routine dental visits while supporting comfort and dignity.

This World Alzheimer’s Month, we’re recognizing the patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who help make everyday care possible.

Because oral health is part of whole-person health and every patient deserves care that meets them where they are.

At House Call Dentists, we believe excellent dental care should be centered around the individual, not simply the appointment.
Our house call model allows us to bring personalized dental care directly to patients, creating a more comfortable and accessible experience for those who benefit from care at home.

Dr. Waynick’s visit is a great example of our commitment to thoughtful, attentive dentistry. We take the time to listen, work carefully, and ensure our patients feel comfortable and respected throughout their care.

Personalized care. Delivered with compassion. Right where our patients are.

When someone is homebound, it's easy for routine dental cleanings to fall down the priority list. But postponing preventative care can lead to much more than plaque buildup.

Untreated dental issues can quietly progress into pain, infection, difficulty eating, tooth loss, and even impact overall health, especially for patients with complex medical conditions, dementia, or mobility challenges.

Regular in-home dental visits allow providers to identify concerns early, support caregivers with practical oral hygiene guidance, and help patients maintain comfort, nutrition, and quality of life, all from the familiarity of home.

Our latest blog explores why preventative dental care is an essential part of whole-person care for homebound patients and how mobile dentistry helps remove barriers to treatment.

Never had a dentist come to you? Here’s what a House Call Dentists visit can look like.

1. We come to you.
Our dentist arrives at your home, residence, hospital, or other agreed-upon location with portable dental technology.

2. We evaluate your needs.
The dentist conducts an examination, takes diagnostic photographs, and, when needed, uses portable X-ray technology.

3. We talk through the findings.
We take the time to answer questions, discuss treatment options, and create a care plan tailored to the patient.

4. We provide care when appropriate.
Depending on the patient’s needs, treatment may include cleanings, fillings, dentures, crowns, extractions and more.

5. We coordinate what comes next.
If additional treatment is needed, our Care Coordinator helps arrange the next step and works with caregivers, family members, physicians, or other providers as appropriate.

The goal is simple: make dental care more accessible, comfortable, and personalized—without asking the patient to navigate the traditional dental office experience.

Many people assume that brushing harder means they're doing a better job removing plaque. In reality, the opposite can be true.
Brushing with excessive force can contribute to gum recession and enamel wear over time.

One of the most valuable pieces of preventative advice we share with patients is to focus on technique rather than pressure.
A few simple reminders:
• Use a soft-bristled toothbrush.
• Apply gentle pressure.
• Brush in small, circular motions.

Small changes to your daily routine can make a meaningful difference in your long-term oral health.

July is Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate the disability community and commemorate the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark civil rights law that advanced inclusion and equal opportunity.

In healthcare, inclusion means creating an environment where every individual is treated with respect, empathy, and dignity. It means recognizing that each patient has unique experiences, preferences, and needs — and ensuring they feel heard throughout their care journey.

At House Call Dentists, we're proud to foster an inclusive, patient-centered approach that prioritizes compassion and personalized care for every individual we serve.

This Disability Pride Month, we celebrate the strength, diversity, and contributions of people with disabilities while reaffirming our commitment to providing care that is welcoming, respectful, and inclusive.

House Call Dentists: Serving the Greater New York Metro Area and Greater San Francisco Bay Area

For many patients, getting to a dental office is the hardest part of getting care.

Older adults, homebound patients, people with cognitive or physical disabilities, patients with complex medical needs, and individuals with dental anxiety often face barriers that traditional dentistry is not designed to solve.

House Call Dentists helps bridge that gap by bringing compassionate, comprehensive dental care to patients in the comfort and safety of their homes, assisted living communities, hospitals, hotels, and other care settings.

Our team works closely with families, caregivers, referring dentists, physicians, care managers, and other healthcare partners to create treatment plans that fit each patient’s needs, health status, and care environment.

Because dental care should be accessible, individualized, and connected to a patient’s overall well-being.

Home care professionals are often the first to notice when something isn't right.

A client starts eating less. They avoid certain foods. Dentures suddenly become uncomfortable. Oral care becomes more difficult.

What may appear to be a behavioral change can sometimes be a dental issue.

For many older adults, homebound individuals, and medically complex patients, getting to a traditional dental office isn't easy. Transportation challenges, mobility limitations, cognitive decline, chronic illness, and dental anxiety can all create barriers to care.

That's why dental referral partnerships matter.

When home care agencies have a trusted dental partner, they can help clients access care sooner, reduce unnecessary discomfort, and support better overall health and quality of life.

At House Call Dentists, we work alongside caregivers, care managers, nurses, physicians, and home care agencies to bring dental care to patients, where they are helping remove barriers and improve outcomes.

Because oral health is an important part of whole-person care.
Read our latest blog to learn why dental referral partnerships are becoming an essential part of comprehensive home care and how they help support patients, families, and care teams alike. Link in comments.

For individuals facing mobility limitations, transportation challenges, demanding schedules, or other barriers to traditional office visits, receiving dental care at home can help support consistent oral health maintenance and improve access to care.

At House Call Dentists, we're committed to meeting patients where they are and helping make preventive and ongoing dental care more convenient and comfortable.

This month, we celebrate healthy smiles and the importance of expanding access to oral healthcare for every community.
