Clenching and grinding leads to a slow progressive degeneration of the smile. Restored with 14 layered zirconia crowns and veneers.

The biggest take away from this case is the masseter muscle in the cheeks in the before photo. The bite was opened, the lower 1/3 of the smile was increased to restore proper facial proportions.

Restoring the bite allows the muscles to elongate, reducing the amount of muscle shortening to reproduce a big smile. As a result the face is more relaxed, the smile is effortless and the fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes are not as pronounced upon smiling. The jaw appears more angulated and 10 years younger!

10 layered porcelain veneers.

Our patient came to us with old composite bonding that had begun chipping and breaking down; something we see often in people who clench or grind their teeth. Over time, those forces can flatten the teeth, narrow the smile, and disrupt the balance of the lower third of the face.

With upper 10 veneers, we restored proper size, shape, and arch width to better support his facial profile. By re-establishing natural proportions, we were able to rebalance the lower 1/3 of his face and bring back harmony in a way that still looks completely natural.

Our patient presented for a smile correction and was unhappy with the open bite on the right side. This led to a whistling sound and occasional saliva ejection when speaking. She did not want to opt for an uncertain orthodontic outcome due to a skeletal open bite.

We were able close this bite with 4 upper and 6 lower veneers. Time was an important factor for our patient and this outcome was accomplished within just 3 weeks!

We are not just changing the aesthetic outcome of this patients smile.
* Re-establishing the natural curvature of the tooth facilitates food movement away from the tooth structure as food is being chewed.
* Closing the spacing in between the teeth prevents food particles from staying there, which leads to cavities and gum inflammation.
* Restoring the coverage of exposed dentin reduces tooth sensitivity and protects the softer dentin from cavities

Our patient was unhappy with the gap between his teeth when he smiled. However years of clenching and grinding had also taken its toll flattened incisal edges, thinned out enamel leading to yellow stained teeth. With 10 veneers we corrected the spacing, the sizing and shape. Improved the arch of the teeth and rejuvenated his smile.
