On December 8, 2023, SmileDirect Club, the do-it-your-self home orthodontic aligner company announced that they would be ceasing their global operations effective immediately. The company's closure would essentially end any customer service, dentist assistance and further aligner production. They have asked their customers to seek answers to their questions at the following website. https://smiledirectclub.com/

We understand that some of you will now be caught in the middle of their orthodontic treatment without any guidance from Smile Direct Club. Our office is positioned to accommodate those patients impacted by Smile Direct Club's closure. Please call the office for a complementary clear aligner consultation as soon as possible for a seamless transition of your orthodontic treatment.

As we approach our slow reopening of the practice, there are certain guidelines that are necessary to follow to ensure everyone’s safety.

* There will be an over the phone and in office pre-screening/questionnaire.

* Temperatures will be taken on everyone before entering the office. 100.4 and over will be turned away.

* A mask is required for everyone entering the office.

* Hand sanitizer will be available at the door.
(If you are wearing gloves, you will be asked to either remove and sanitize or use sanitizer over the gloves)

* Patients will be asked to come to their appointment alone with the exception of parents bringing in their children for treatment.

The doctors have made a number of changes within the office as well.

* Air purifiers are placed in each dental operatory

* virus particle sized filters are placed in all vents

* UV lights in place to disinfect areas

* UV light portable wands to be used after seeing every patient. (as shown by Dr Lantner in photo)

Finally, all Doctors and staff members will have the required PPE to safely treat every patient.

This has been the most exciting day in my 20 plus years of practicing Dentistry. No one has ever wanted to talk about flossing; now it's the buzz!

Yesterday, an article was published by the AP claiming, "there is little proof that flossing works."
There was a lot of blah blah about the evidence for flossing being, "very weak and unreliable." The basis of the author's point was there were no long term published studies on the efficacy of flossing.

In every dental office across the country and around the world, there are countless unpublished long term studies on flossing. I have been fortunate to practice in the area and follow thousands of patients for over 20 years. HIPPA rules do not allow me to name those, like me, that went a period of their adult lives not flossing. Once flossing commenced, the positive effects on the gums were seen very soon thereafter, in every one of those patients.
The comments I hear years later from those patients are, 'I can't imagine going back to those days of not flossing."

While only 4 out of 5 dentists recommend sugarless gum for their patients that chew gum, 5 out of 5 dentists will recommend flossing to their patients.

In short, there is no flossing controversy...floss only those teeth you want to keep!!
