La Citta Eterna Vol. IIII
“Strength and Honor”
Meditations from Agrippa’s Pantheon
Standing before buildings that have witnessed the greatest empires rise and fall—great men at their highest and their lowest—I can’t help but feel humbled and grateful to have seen these marvels time and time again.
In an era of vanity and self-obsession (not new, but louder than ever), I found myself grounded by a set of questions I heard during my visit to the Basilica again—questions that genuinely stayed with me.
Maybe we need to ask ourselves the deeper, bigger questions—now more than ever:
“Who am I, really?
What am I looking for?
What direction do I want to give my life, my decisions, and my actions?
Why—and for what purpose—am I in this world?
How do I want to look back on my life once it ends?
What meaning do I want to give to my experiences?
Who do I want to be for others?”
The Oracle of Delphi rightly earned her respect and place from Michelangelo at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel for these 2 wise words;
“Know yourself”
Bonus last picture; this is where Julius Caesar was stabbed 23 times at the Curia Pompey by some of the people he trusted the most, only the back wall exists now. Had to pay my visit to where he was cremated and act as if Marcus Antonius was giving his speech on the side of the pyre the people lit up in honor.
Most people just pass by it, not knowing, only focusing on what is popular.
Merry Christmas
