I know periodontal probing hurts…and I’m so sorry. But if I don’t do it and you have periodontal disease, you could loose your teeth. And my goal for 33 years had been to keep them in your head.

Periodontal disease and tooth decay are both bacterial infections, and as a Dental Hygienist, my goal is to prevent infection. Proper brushing and flossing, and seeing me (or your favorite hygienist!) every 6 months is the way…

Eight beautiful patients today and all but one left with clean teeth. That one needs just a little more care. 😬

There are between 500 and 800 different types of bacteria in your mouth. Multiply each of those by 1 zillion and that’s how much bacteria you have in your mouth everyday.

I have been a dental hygienist for 33, no make that 34, years. So many things run through my head that I think people should know I have decided to start a page dedicated to giving everyone that info. I can’t diagnose (which is stupid because if I can’t tell someone has periodontal disease or a cavity by now I should not be doing this) but I can give you advice. I don’t have all the answers but I sure can try to help.
