🦷Andy the Alligator says "Let's Focus on Flossing"✨

A Small Habit That Makes a Big Difference!

Flossing is an important part of a healthy oral hygiene routine, because it cleans the areas a toothbrush can’t reach.

For our kiddos, flossing is a skill that takes time to build. Parents can help and guide their child until they’re able to floss effectively on their own. 💙

The good news? There are multiple tools and options to make flossing easier, including traditional floss, floss picks, and water flossers. Make sure to check with our pediatric dentists to see which tool is the right choice for your kiddo.

🪥Andy the Alligators Tips for Brushing🪥

Angle the toothbrush at about 45° toward your child’s gumline. This helps clean the area where the teeth and gums meet, which is one of the most commonly missed areas during brushing.

Why it matters: When plaque remains along the gumline, it can lead to gingival inflammation (gingivitis). Inflamed gums may become sore and uncomfortable, which can make brushing more difficult and cause your child to avoid those areas even more.

Brush morning and night. Help your child brush thoroughly, paying special attention to the gumline and other areas that are easy to miss.

Even when you can’t see anything on your child's teeth, brushing and flossing are still disrupting bacteria and plaque that can otherwise contribute to cavities and gingivitis.

🦷Happy Dental Hygiene Month✨

October is a time to celebrate our amazing team of dental hygienists and recognize the important role they play in keeping our patients healthy. Prevention is their specialty!

Our hygienists do so much more than clean teeth. They:

🪥 Educate our kiddos on proper brushing, flossing, and the connection between oral health and overall wellness.
🔎 Detect early signs and risk factors for gum disease, cavities, and oral cancer.
🛡️ Provide preventive care, including fluoride treatments, sealants, and X-rays.
💙 Build trust and comfort, helping make every dental visit a positive experience for your child.

Taking care of your child's teeth is an important part of taking care of their whole body. Brushing twice a day, flossing every day, eating healthy foods, and visiting your pediatric dentist can help keep your child's smile bright and prevent toothaches and cavities.

And remember, you don’t have to be perfect! If you’ve gotten out of your brushing or flossing routine, today is a great day to start again. Your smile will thank you! 😁🪥

A big THANK YOU to our dental hygienists for helping our patients learn, smile, and feel their best every day! 💙

Feeding and caring for our little ones are some of the most important jobs we have. Every household is different, but there are simple steps we can take to help reduce the risk of early childhood caries (cavities).

🦷 If your child drinks milk before bed:
Try to brush their teeth after they finish their bottle or nursing session.

🌙 If your child feeds during the night:
If brushing afterward isn’t possible, keep a clean, wet baby washcloth nearby and gently wipe their teeth and gums after feeding.

💧 At bedtime:
Gradually work toward transitioning your child to water only in their bedtime bottle. Milk and other drinks can remain on the teeth for extended periods and increase the risk of cavities.

🚨If you have already noticed spots similar to those shown in the photos below, be sure to have your child evaluated by a pediatric dentist. Early evaluation can help manage your child’s dental health and provide you with helpful tips for caring for your baby’s tiny teeth and preventing cavities.

Remember: Even baby teeth are important! Small changes can make a big difference in protecting your little one’s smile. 🦷💙

September 22, 2026, marks the official start of the autumn season. 🍂

Here in the South, we know that the arrival of autumn doesn’t always mean cooler temperatures right away, but it does bring the promise of what’s to come. After months of scorching heat, there’s something especially refreshing about looking forward to crisp mornings, cooler evenings, and the beauty of the changing season.

What do you enjoy most about autumn? Is it decorating your home, celebrating the upcoming holidays, spending time with family and friends, or simply enjoying a much-needed break from the summer heat?

We’d love to hear what makes this season special to you! 🍁

Were you helping your child with brushing and noticed some extra teeth coming in? Don’t worry, this is very common and easy situation to address!

First, check the baby tooth.
If it’s loose, encourage your child to gently wiggle it with clean hands. In many cases, the baby tooth will come out on its own.

If your child is unable to remove the tooth, or if the baby tooth isn’t wiggly at all, we can help!

Once the primary (baby) tooth is removed, the tongue naturally helps guide the permanent tooth forward, while the lips help keep the tooth from moving too far forward.

Heads up! 👀
A permanent tooth erupting behind or alongside a baby tooth can sometimes be a sign of crowding. As your child grows, we’ll continue to monitor their development and determine whether orthodontic treatment may be needed.

The good news? We’ll keep an eye on things and make sure your child’s smile is developing just the way it should! 🦷✨
