There are two types of kids: the ones who proudly announce their wiggly tooth to every human in a 10-mile radius, and the ones who act like their tooth is hanging on for dear life and absolutely no one is allowed to touch it. 😅🦷

Both are normal!

Wiggly teeth are a big part of childhood, but parents often wonder what’s normal and what needs a closer look. In many cases, baby teeth loosen as permanent teeth begin making their way in. But if a tooth becomes loose after a fall, bump, injury, or if your child is in pain, it’s a good idea to call us.

A few parent tips:

🦷 Encourage gentle wiggling with clean hands
🦷 Avoid pulling a tooth that is not ready

This week’s Pelican Summer Smile Quest mission: become a Two-Minute Toothbrush DJ 😎

Brushing for two full minutes can feel like forever when you’re a kid. So let’s make it a little more fun.

Have your child pick a favorite song, silly dance track, or family-approved jam and brush until the timer ends. Bonus points if they brush all the way around: top teeth, bottom teeth, front teeth, back teeth, and the tiny spots that love to hide snacks.

Try this mission at home:

Cavity prevention, but make it kid-friendly. ✨

Dental sealants are one of our favorite little smile protectors for growing kids. They’re thin, protective coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth — the spot where food, plaque, and sugar bugs love to hide.

Even great brushers can have a hard time reaching every tiny groove on those molars, which is why sealants can be such a helpful extra layer of defense.

Tiny tooth? Big deal. 🧚‍♀️🦷✨

Happy National Tooth Fairy Day! Around here, we know losing a tooth is basically a major childhood milestone — part excitement, part mystery, part “how much do we think she’s leaving this time?”

But beyond the Tooth Fairy magic, wiggly teeth are also a great reminder that your child’s smile is growing and changing. Baby teeth help children chew, speak, smile, and hold space for their permanent teeth, so caring for them matters all the way until they’re ready to wiggle out.
