Oral Health Month is observed in the month of June as a time to raise awareness about the importance of good oral hygiene habits and preventive dental care.

Throughout the month we will highlight the top 10 oral health topics:

Topic #1 Athletic mouthguards: ⚽🏈⚾
Participation in contact, collision, or high-velocity sports increases the risk of dental and facial injuries. Wearing a properly fitted mouthguard significantly reduces the risk and severity of these injuries. The ADA recommends mouthguards for at-risk activities because they protect the upper teeth, lips, and cheeks.

FUN FACT FRIDAY:

Kids usually start losing their baby teeth around age 6 — beginning with the lower front teeth in most cases! 🦷✨

This natural process happens as the permanent teeth underneath begin pushing the baby teeth loose. Most children continue losing and gaining teeth until around ages 12–13, when their adult smile is nearly complete.

Oral Health Tip:

Replacing your toothbrush every 3–4 months is important because:

🦠 Bacteria builds up over time on bristles, even with rinsing
🪥 Worn bristles clean less effectively, leaving plaque behind
😷 After illness (cold, flu, etc.), replacing it helps avoid reinfection
🧵 Frayed bristles can be too harsh on gums and less precise between teeth

👉 Tip: Many people change theirs at the start of each season to make it easy to remember.

Oral Healthy Tip Thursday: 🦷⭐

Your mouth doesn’t “shut off” when you go to sleep—what’s happening overnight can have a big impact on how well you rest.

Teeth grinding (bruxism) and dry mouth are two of the most common culprits.
