Your child loved going to the dentist last year. This year, suddenly, they are nervous.

That can happen.

As children grow, they become more aware of new surroundings, sounds, sensations, and what might happen during a visit. A little hesitation does not necessarily mean something is wrong.

Try not to put pressure on them to “be brave.” Instead, listen to what they are feeling and let us know what is worrying them.

At Naples Pediatric Dentistry, we meet children where they are and give them the time and reassurance they need to feel more comfortable.

Learning to brush independently is an important milestone, but being able to hold a toothbrush is not always the same as being ready to brush effectively without help.

Many children still need a parent's supervision or assistance as they develop the coordination and attention needed to clean every surface thoroughly.

Let your child practice and build independence, but continue to check their brushing and lend a hand when needed.
