Thank you for recognizing Dr. Varnado!

We are proud to have him at Hackley Community Care. His commitment to caring for our patients and community is truly appreciated, and we are fortunate to have him on our team!

👏🏾 THIS WEEK, WE HONOR DR. BYRON VARNADO!

This week, we recognize another hometown leader whose service continues to make a difference: Dr. Byron Varnado.

A Muskegon native and Western Michigan Christian High School graduate, Dr. Varnado earned his chemistry and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. After completing his family medicine residency at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, where he served as Chief Resident, he returned home to care for his community.

Today, he serves as Chief Medical Doctor for Hackley Community Care and Medical Director of Access Health. His career includes more than 20 years with Harborwood Family Medicine, leadership roles at Mercy Health, and work to improve access to care and health literacy.

His dedication extends beyond medicine. Dr. Varnado mentors young men, teaches financial literacy, and coaches youth basketball and baseball—helping the next generation build confidence and a strong foundation for life.

Dr. Varnado, thank you for coming home, investing in our young people, and caring for Muskegon. We honor your leadership, compassion, and commitment! ❤️👏🏾
