He attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Ca., graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, and a minor in Chemistry in 1985. He then continued on to UOP School of Dentistry in San Francisco, where he earned a Doctorate degree of Dental Surgery in 1985. Dr. O’Connor began practicing as a general dentist in San Jose until 1997, when he had the very fortunate opportunity to
move to and practice in the town of Murphys, California, where he has been serving his community ever since. Although Dr. O’Connor enjoys advanced dentistry, including implant and cosmetic dentistry, he strives to provide all aspects of dentistry in a professional manner. He has been chosen to be an exclusive member of the California Peer Review System and has served on the Board of Directors for the San Joaquin Dental Society. Dr. O’Connor is also a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Esthetic Dentistry. He has been a long time sponsor of many local community organizations such as The Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program, The National FFA Organization, 4H Youth Development Program, Feeney Park Foundation, Murphys Irish Days, and many American Cancer Society Relay For Life and Calaveras Grape Stomp Teams. On a more personal level, Dr. Tim O’Connor has some old family ties to Murphys. His grandfather, Dr. Thomas O’Connor, was a physician and the director of the Bret Harte Sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis in the 1930’s. “It has been quite an experience to have actually worked on some of my grandfather’s patients and co- workers.” states Dr. O’Connor. Tim O’Connor met his wife, Vicki, while she was in dental hygiene school and they married in 1986. Vicki is a registered dental hygienist and works in the family practice. They have one daughter, Katie, who is currently a student at the University of Oregon studying Sports Marketing. Dr. O’Connor enjoys gardening and landscape design, carpentry, scuba diving, snow and water skiing, hiking, reading and spending time with family and friends.
