✨Transformation Tuesday!✨

Esthetic Crown Lengthening is one of my favorite procedures because it’s one of the only surgeries that gives the patient instant gratification (and a boost in self-esteem!) 😁

This patient is a 13 year old who just finished braces but never smiled 😕 As you can see, her gum tissue is very bulky and her teeth appear short and square. Her natural teeth are normal in size but were just hiding below the surface! 👻

We removed the excess gum tissue and recontoured the underlying bone to give her an immediate transformation 💫 I released her labial frenulum a week later and the final photo is 3 weeks post-op 😍

There are still a few tweaks I want to make but she is happy and smiling! 🥳

Esthetic Crown Lengthening is one of my favorite procedures because it’s one of the only surgeries that gives the patient instant gratification (and a boost in self-esteem!) 😁

Treatment planning can be one of the most rushed and under-appreciated steps of dentistry. Although the patient may feel like it takes a while to get things moving, this step is critical in providing communication between the surgeon, restoring dentist and lab.

Whether I’m treatment planning a full-arch hybrid or a single tooth implant, a 3D cone beam CT scan provides key diagnostic information that may not be available in a regular 2-dimensional radiograph. Also, it can be extremely helpful in identifying potential issues and navigating those unforseen hiccups or delays in treatment. Lastly, (and most importantly IMO), it allows the patient to visualize and understand his treatment before it begins. The patient is in charge, after all, and, as in many other aspects of life, the key to successful treatment outcomes is communication. 💀💯🔩
